MGM could become the best Disney park......

1. Replace the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular with a new version of the Disneyland rides.
2. Move the awesome sorceror's hat to the front of the park, so it will no longer block the Great Movie Ride.
3. Do something to improve the Backlot Tour.
4. I don't know what to do with Star Tours, but something needs to be done!
5. Keep One Man's Dream.

and i just had a thought ive seen a parks they put a children's freefall next to the adult one why don't they put the twilight zone
tower jr in the hollywood tower motel it could give the kids the chance to fall if they dont fit the height requirement just a spur of the moment thought

I'd like to see some more kid-friendly rides. Yes there are lots of shows for the little ones, but most kids are too little for TOT and R&R. Someone mentioned a Monsters Inc attraction. I think a Peter Pan type ride using the Monsters Inc theme would be great, and fit in well with the animation theme of MGM.

If I had the power to, I'd...

1. Demolish the hat that is there right now.
2. Totally change the entrance area of the park... Monorail Station. ;)
3. Remove the Great Movie Ride. A new, signature attraction would take the place of the Great Movie Ride, and the entrance would be a Giant Hat... larger than the one we have now. But the hat would actually be the entrance to the attraction. And all the Hand Prints in the Cement would be re-located to be in front of the hat. The ride would be completely amazing. Using the next generation EMVs, called EMV2+s, you'd be totally amazed. The vehicle would travel at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour, have a motion base, be in 3-D, convert into a boat, and accelerate from 0-60 in 2 seconds. The attraction theme itself would be Disney Movies. Animation, Live Action, a mix, you name it. And the climax would involve some fire balls and some other pretty cool stuff. Budget is only 500 million. :)
4. The Indiana Jones area of the park would be expanded to create a mini land complete with an enhanced version of the Indy ride from Tokyo and an Indy Coaster. The Stunt Show would be removed however. Echo Lake would have its shoreline altered.
5. Muppet Studios (Go Read Jim Hill's article)
6. Roger Rabbit's Hollywood would be built on part of the remaining backlot, including a RollerCoaster Rabbit ride. :)
7. Replace Fantasmic's Pochantas Scene with a different movie, Peter Pan or Pirates of the Caribbean.
8. Remove Fast Pass from Tower of Terror, there's no reason for it. The ride already has a high compacity.
9. Bring back Sorcery in the Sky.
10. New Star Wars ride.

ok, here are my ideas, not nessisarily all of them need to be implimented, more like possibilities:

1. Yes, do a muppet section of the park with muppet ride, new movie for muppet 4d, restaurant, and a spinner using that character that throws fish at people

2. New film and queue for star tours but leave it a simulator

3. I like the idea of a bond ride, how about the worlds first standing interactive dark ride where you're sneeking around buildings and such

4. Indy ride, but maybe a mine cart coaster and leave the other ride tech for a harry potter ride

5. A major animatronics show

6. give the backlot tour a point

7. nightmare before christmas dark ride(park actually needs more family rides)

8. A toon town type area that is zany as opposed to childish

Just suggestions, the park really doesn't need much to be really good, and add more hollywood to it, all aspects, a magic dinner theature would be a nice touch, things like that

a Harry Potter EMV...never. And our Indy ride will neither involve the Forbidden Eye or the Crystal Skull, but it will have very similar show scenes and the same music.

that is very, VERY debatable. And how exactly are they "saving" the technology for that. Dinosaur already uses the exact same technology and track layout. No Potter. Not now. Not ever. "Why?" you may ask. Mickey Mouse: "Because we like you."

Fair enough with the emv arguement, but as far as potter, it is a movie which just happens to be the theme of MGM, so it fits just fine. tell me this then, if potter doesn't fit then how do star wars, indy, twighlight zone, the muppets, honey I shrunk the kids, and aerosmith fit? It makes absolutely no sense to say it's ok for these and not potter.

And Bill, if they EVER remove great movie ride I will hold you personally responcible!! :D

I didn't say it doesn't fit in. I said it won't happen. Why? Because they are building the Indiana Jones Adventure at MGM, and they are not going to build two E-Rides at MGM at the same time.

As vocal as I have been about keeping Harry Potter out of MK, I wouldn't go ballistic if it was included at MGM...it seems to go better there, and it would bring a lot of more people to the park, I would guess.

Having said that, here are some ideas for improving MGM for me:

1) Please do, as has been said before in this thread, include the Indy Forbidden Eye or Crystal Skull ride....although, I would like to see it include the suspension bridge and the fire effects...that really makes the ride, and I would like to see the part where it is just plain darkness with air whizzing above and around you changed. I would personally love to see the Indy stunt show go.

2) Yes, do something, ANYTHING with Star Tours...I have never been impressed, but then with few exceptions, I don't like simulators...although I liked Mission:Space (go figure!)

3) Here's my one big contribution... add a new Fantasyland-like section to MGM that can focus on the new classics (and proposed rides that weren't built at MK). Maybe, since they are re-working the animation area, they could have the animation building be the entrance to the new area ( and move the hat here) and then they could have the new land in part of the backstage tour area (please don't attack me for saying that...I am just thinking out loud, and I am lousy with geography, so I don't know if that is a possiblity even)
I think they should initially include:
- The Little Mermaid suspended dark ride that was proposed for DLP
- The Beauty and the Beast show/ride/experience that was proposed for DLP
- A Lion King dark ride
- The Mary Poppins dark ride
- The Bald Mountain/Villains ride (this has GOT to be built somewhere!)
Additions in the future could include the Monsters, Inc. roller coaster, maybe the Sleeping Beauty dark ride and maybe a multi-movie ride that can focus on assorted movies, such as Mulan, Tarzan, Emperor's New Groove, etc.

- I also agree that Fantasmic is due for a rehab, although this is my very favorite attraction anywhere in the park, the Pocahantas scene needs to go...maybe instead of Peter Pan (if they don't want to do a direct copy of the DL version), they could bring back the huge animatronic/float of Ursula (I don't think they use that at DL anymore???) and have the ship scene from Little Mermaid...

ok, to be honest, i've always thought AK has the most potential to become the best park once it has had the time to grow and develop the camp minnie mickey park and dinoland. AK just has the ability to have superb themeing; the themeing in Asia and Africa is amazing. buuuuuut, if mgm were to be fixed so that its the Best Park Ever, i think the monorail should be continued from epcot and stop at the epcot resort area. that would be my dream, b/c i really dont see it happening. i think when it comes down to spending tons of money on monorail or on developing the parks, i'd choose the park. the muppets should have an expanded area in the park, so that the henson company is pleased. a dark ride would be best for that. i would hope that indy were changed. i wouldnt mind the hat that much if it were given a purpose besides a freaking pin store. even if it were just the center for a fireworks show or some sort of show. i love the idea of taking advantage of miramax and other disney ownings to aid in rebuilding the backlot tour. i think that would bring a lot more people towards the west side of the park and ease crowds for ToT and RnRC. i dont think sounds dangerous is a bad thing. it just needs to be updated and have a little money put into it.

I agree that MGM could possibly become the best park. It has enormous potential. I like the rides that you all have proposed, but they don't totally fit in with the theme. Isn't the theme of MGM making the movies? It used to be anyway. I'm not sure.

I came up with 3 rides that would make this park awesome. It includes 2 family rides and 1 thrill ride. You can find this is in the Imagineering thread titled "My ride ideas for MGM."

Ok, what do RnRC and TOT have to do with making movies, NOTHING. So the theme was thrown out the door a long time ago.

While we are at it, what's the weather going to be in Mudlick, KY on August 15th, 2008?

I'm glad you are certain. Do you suspect that both Stunt shows will be running at the same time EVER? Or the day Motors opens, Indy will close? If so, how soon do you anticipate an announcement afterwards?

I agree with more dark rides, DAZZLING attractions. . .

. . . but first make it a studio and bring the animators back! :brick:

Perhaps a Broadway street? Maybe make some of the existing shows true Broadway quality?

Oh, and make One Man's Dream permanent. :D

I think One Man's Dream would be a better fit in the MK, maybe in the back of the Kodak shop in the front of the park.

Anyway, MGM does have great potential. I keep reading about adding a ton of rides, but I don't think adding only rides is going to help improve the park.

Before they add anything, they really need to revisit some of the current attractions.

Fantasmic needs some reworking
Sounds Dangerous really needs some reworking (I like Drew Carey, but the Monster Sound Show was so much better)
The old Superstar Television theater could use a new show.
The Indiana Jones show could use an update
The animation tour could use some reworking
a Star Tours simulator that uses better technology
The Great Movie Ride needs to be more exciting

I would rather not see the Indiana Jones ride at MGM, I think it would fit better in Adventureland, and Adventureland could really use another attraction...it is a ghost town.

After they fix what is broken, I would like to see some of the better shows at the other park brought to MGM

The Aladdin show from DCA (maybe replace B&tB)
The Cinemagic show from Paris (sounds fun)

I also think they could make better use of all of the brands Disney owns (ESPN, ABC....)

Now, if they could add something more onto the backstage tour, that would be great. Something like the backstage tour at Paris, which I think has Catastrophie Canyon and something else.

After that, a few rides:

Something to do with the Muppets...but better than a dark ride

I don't think having two stunt shows is redundant, one is cars, the other is people.

I just think they need to keep the park well-rounded.

Oh, and why do they need a EMV that can travel 60+mph....speed can be easily simulated, all actually traveling that fast would do is shorten the ride and increase the size of the attraction building.

I always thought that the theme for the Studios park was entertainment in all forms. Movies are just the biggest form of entertainment in this country and it has the biggest influence in the park. RNRC has to do with Music and TOT is based on a TV show. Remember Superstar Television? So I really think that the theme for the park is still intact and is now stronger than ever. I can see how you would think that though because the TV and Music influence is so small.
