Mickey Street
View attachment 295609

When departing from the tram, you'll notice the grandiose Mickey Street Train Station, which is the entrance to Melbourne Disneyland Park. What I mean by that is underneath it is where you will scan you Magichain (more on that later) to go through the turnstiles and be entered into the park.

If you look up, you'll notice the Australian flag flying high and proud in the sky, and below it you'll find a pathway to the left, right, and straight ahead, as well a plaque that has the dedication speech (found in the first post) engraved on it. You could call this area the Flag Garden if you'd like.

As you look around, you'll likely see guests going around on Main Street Electrical Vehicles, which take them from the train station to the "castle courtyard" and vice versa.

Moving on the left side, you'll be able to see City Hall, which acts as a Guest Services, and also provides needs for the deaf and blind, such as a braille map, and pocketbooks that hold narrations for the most popular attractions. To the right of City Hall is Fire Brigade No. 28, which houses a small quick-service actually called Fire Brigade No. 28, and spans two floors.

Sample Menu (Classic American Food)
Brigade Cheese Dog (Served with french fries or apple slices) - AU$12.54
Brigade Chili Cheese Dog (Served with french fries or apple slices) - AU$14.90
The Salad Dog (Salad on top of a hot dog. Served with french fries or apple slices) - AU$15.53
Mac 'n' Cheese Dog (Served with french fries or apple slices) - AU$15.59
The Classic Hot Dog (Served with french fries or apple slices) - AU$9.83
The Big Brigade Corn Dog (Served with french fries and apple slices) - AU$10.83
Snacks/Desserts
Fresh Garden Salad (fresh from The Land Pavilion at MelCOT) - AU$20.18
Bacon-Wrapped Chocolate Bar - AU$7.46
Double-Stuffed Brownie - AU$5.76

To the right is House of Mouse Theater, which houses The Life and Times of Uncle Walt, a 49-minute film featuring the life of Walt Disney, including a Walt Disney animatronic that gives the dedication speech of Disneyland.

Cast Member: Hello and welcome to The Life and Times of Uncle Walt, a tribute and celebration to the man who started a popular mouse and character chain, man wonderful animated movies, and theme parks. Today's show is 49-minutes long, and is a mix of film and animatronics. For your safety and the comfort of others, please no eating, drinking, speaking, and no flash-photography. Thank you, and enjoy the show.

Narrator: In early December of 1901, a star of his own, is born. Walter Elias Disney is born. He already has three other siblings, Herbert, Raymond, and Roy. Later in 1903, Ruth.

(The curtain comes up, revealing early pictures of Walt, including his parents, him sitting in a chair, and many others you can find on the internet. A classical rendition of When You Wish Upon a Star plays, stopping when the narrator speaks.)

Narrator: Through his childhood, Walt has paper routes, taking them before school, and sometimes sleeps on his jobs. Although his father is rough, his mother is sweet and sometimes stern. Drawing and animating was his passion, and he did it whenever he could.

(The film cuts to scenes of Walt's drawings, and his early adult life drawing animations.)

Narrator: This is what fueled his passion for animation. His job, he loosely worked for a newspaper company, drawing comics. It wasn't long, however, that Walt was evicted and lived on the streets. He later moved with his brother, Roy, to Hollywood. This is where they'd start the animation business.

(Cut to scenes of early Disney short films, and finally, Steamboat Willie.)

Narrator: The year is 1928. On a train back to Hollywood from New York, Walt comes up with a mouse named Mortimer. "No, no, too serious." his wife, Lilian, tells him. "Aha, how about Mickey?" she adds. Walt nods, and Steamboat Willie, starring Mickey Mouse, goes to theaters.

Narrator: In future years, he continues on with short films, until 1935, when he aims to make a feature-film, the first ever animated full-length film. This became Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937.

(Cut to scenes of the opening at Carthay Circle.)

Narrator: He first presents it at the Carthay Theater, and becomes a huge hit. Carthay is still well-known within Disney, having it in Disney's California Adventure and Disney Hollywood Studios in Florida, just to name a few. He continues with these films, Pinocchio, Bambi, Fantasia. And then, the war comes. Walt is back to the short films, and Donald Duck is presented in almost every short film. He does, however, release The Adventures of Ichabod and Toad, a two-film feature that is released in 1947.

(Cut to scenes of Snow White, Donald short films, and Toad.)

Narrator: Getting past the war, Walt thinks of a theme park located right across from his Burbank, California Studio. Due to the war, plans halt, until the early fifties, when plans became too large, and Walt needs more space. He buys acres of orange groves in small-town Anaheim. Disneyland is built, and guests flock to the main entrance, some legal and others, not.

(Cut to scenes of photos and videos of Disneyland being built, including a time-lapse. Then, the screen is lifted, revealing an animatronic Walt Disney standing behind a microphone.)

Walt Disney: To all who come to this happy place, welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past... and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated the the ideals, dreams, and hard facts that have created America... with hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world. Thank you.

(The screen and curtain come down together, showing only the curtains. There is silence, only for a moment.)

(Instrumental it's a small world music plays in the background while the narrator speaks.)

Narrator: Disneyland is a huge hit. What else is a hit is the opening of the 1964/65 New York World's Fair. Walt Disney builds not one, not two, not three, but four attractions for the forward-thinking fair. He creates: Pepsi-Cola it's a small world, GE's Carousel of Progress, Ford's Magic Skyway, and Illinois's Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

(Parts of this video above are played, including the "Fair Song" and Walt showing off his creations.)

Narrator: Not only is Disney investing his time in this fair, he is also dreaming up of the "Florida Project". E.P.C.O.T. Center, as he calls, is to be a working, breathing, living city in the smallest town of Orlando, Florida.

(The screen lifts yet again, now to show Walt Disney showcasing E.P.C.O.T.)

Narrator: Walt Disney does know that he can do it, but... it does not come to fruition.

(The screen is brought back down, and E.P.C.O.T. pictures are shown.)

Narrator: All his life, Walt Disney is a chain-smoker. It starts from the age of 18, and catches up with him.

(Sad, instrumental music plays, and Walt Disney photos/videos light up on the screen.)

Narrator: December 15, 1966, Walter Elias Disney, dies from lung cancer. From his last days, he plots out on the ceiling, with the help of Roy, what E.P.C.O.T. shall look like.

(More Disney pictures run on the screen while the music plays.)

Narrator: Today, The Walt Disney Company is a huge empire, with 18 theme parks and many movies, Walt Disney has made his mark.

Narrator: Thank you, each and every one of you, for joining this tribute of Walt Disney, please, enjoy the rest of your day.

(The curtain comes down, and the above music starts to play as you exit the theater, and others enter.

Moving past the Flag Garden is the heart of Mickey Street. We'll start from the left side of Mickey Street.

View attachment 295612

Beginning from the left (closest to Fire Brigade) is Mickey Emporium, where you can shop for anything Melbourne Disneyland Park, including a one of a kind, AU$62.34 book showcasing concept art from the early stages of Melbourne Disneyland Resort. Moving right, we'll be able to see a side entrance of the Emporium, Clarabelle's Cakery, a bakery with fun-filled, and creme-filled treats such as doughnuts, cookies, Rice Krispy treats, etc, and a little courtyard with benches to sit and eat your treats. Also in the courtyard is the Mickey-Go-Round, a merry-go-round which marks the first actual attraction in a Main Street Land.

Next to the courtyard is Dandie's, where you can buy merchandise with flowers all over it. Here you'll also find tote-bags, purses, change-purses, and more with Minnie and Daisy on it. Moving down the street, the next stop is Coffee Cafe: Presented by The Coffee Club. Here you can grab your morning coffee from Australia's favorite coffee chain, The Coffee Club. Towards the end of the left side is Barnyard Bunches and The Mouse Club Clothiers. Barnyard Bunches is a store that sells mainly farm-related merchandise, while Mouse Club sells everything with Mickey's name on it. It's basically a smaller version of the World of Disney.

Now that we've reached the end of the left side of Mickey Street, let's move on the the right.

From right to left, we begin at Winnie the Pooh's Honey House, a circular building on the edge that serves as a confectionery for the street, and is much alike the Cakery across the street. To the left of this is Penny Arcade, where you can play classic arcade games for as low as a penny, and as high as a dime! Next is a stationary building, and is a barber shop. Although it is stationary, if you look in the window, you'll notice a barber cutting someone's hair. Onto another building, we have Goofy's Toys, a toy shop where you can find little toy trams and buses, stuffed animals of favorite Disney pals, and even souvenir cups!

From there, you can head to the left into a court. This court is paved and has multiple carts. Ink Portraits, Face Painting, and Caricatures, are just some of the things you can get in this court. If you walk to the back, you'll be able to find more stationary buildings.

Moving past the court, you'll see Melbourne Disneyland Park Character Spot, a large building disguised as two, where you can find the following characters:

MDPCS Timetable
Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto: 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m., 4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White, Jasmine, Belle: 10:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m., 2:30 p.m.-3:45 p.m.
Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, Piglet, Owl: 1:00 p.m.-2:15 p.m., 5:45 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Evil Queen, Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, Jafar, Ursula: 7:45 p.m.-9:30 p.m.

You have now reached the end of Mickey Street, and have entered the Castle Courtyard, which is not a new land.

In the next post, we will decipher Beastly Kingdom and all of its things it has to offer.

Feedback is appreciated. If you have suggestions of things you would like me to add, or maybe alter in the post, feel free to post it.

Thank you!! Are you still able to create a map? It can be later on, I just want to know for detailing purposes. As always, if I need to clarify something, just ask me.

Castle Courtyard

Though this is not a true land, I thought I should explain just a tad.

After walking through the marvelous Mickey Street, you'll be entered into the castle courtyard, an area that separates the castle and Mickey Street. The headlining thing in the courtyard is the "Partners" statue, which is right in the middle, surrounded by walkways with gardens, and a street surrounding that.

There are also some picnic areas where you can sit (first come first served) and view the fireworks.

This post is a filler post as I have yet been able to finish Beastly Kingdom.

Yes, I'd prefer to have an idea of the entire park first to organize everything in rough draft form. I think that will be more efficient than doing it piecemeal

Beastly Kingdom
Beastly_Kingdom_Concept.jpg

Your first left out of Castle Courtyard will take you to a stunning bridge that is painted with Mary Blair-style designs on the side. Under that bridge is Santorini River, named after the famous Greek volcano, which surrounds Beastly Kingdom. At times, you'll be able to see a sea-dragon, thanks to the technology of audio-animatronics. After crossing the bridge, you'll be welcomed into the first sub-land:

Land of Open Arms
Over the bridge, as seen above, you'll be entered into a somewhat open courtyard, Land of Open Arms. This sub-land is not just a portal to other mythological areas, it itself is a mythological area. Looking straight ahead, you'll see a carousel, Pegasus Fly-Highs, a carousel where you can ride your own Pegasus. This attraction is under one big gazebo, with a sea-dragon wrapping around it.

To the right of the carousel, almost connected to it, is Hut of the Mystic River, a simple gift shop that hosts a number of different merchandise, including Hercules-themed items, and box-office flop Atlantis items. Across from both of these is a restaurant, Little Forest Cafe, which serves as the land's quick-service restaurant. Here you can get your classic quick-service foods, and, special food directly tied with the rest of the sub-lands.

Looking to the right, the northeast part of the sub-land island, is yet another bridge, connecting Land of Open Arms to The Lost Unicorn Village. To the left, the northwest part of the island, is another bridge, this time connecting to Town of Dragondaar.

The Lost Unicorn Village
bk03.preview-590x454.jpg

When entering via the bridge, The Lost Unicorn Village will look beautiful, that's because it is. This land is host to many different types of light-hearted mythical creatures, including unicorns.

The first thing you will probably see is a bronze statue. This statue will depict a majestic unicorn perched on top of a rock, looking towards the huge 54.5-meter (179 feet) tall Mount Olympus, which houses the epic dark ride, Quest For the Unicorn. Before we go there, let's take a look further at what this land has to offer. Over the bridge, around the statue, there are small stalls, which are home to a multitude of Greek-themed shops, food carts, and even character greetings.

One stall, which is more of a building, houses Meet & Greet with Greece, a meet and greet attraction where you can meet Hercules, and the Pals dressed as Greek warriors. Not only that, but with your meeting, you'll receive a free pin themed to the character you met.

To the immediate LEFT of the statue is Majestic Apple Tree, an off-the-shelf aerial carousel in which you sit in baskets and twirl around an apple tree, whilst trying to grab an apple for strength and energy. This may seem like a simple, cheap work-around, this attraction is also highly decorated, with animatronics and water effects to make it feel more immersive.

To the RIGHT of the statue is a pathway that winds its way to Mt. Olympus, which is home to, as I mentioned above, Quest For the Unicorn. What was once planned as a hedge maze to find a unicorn, this will instead be an E-Ticket dark ride, utitilizing the most advanced technology ever, including animatronics, water, holograms, fire, and more.

Queue: The queue is one of the most important things to take a look around at in this mountain. Here you can see hand-drawn paintings of unicorns, ancient Greece, and pictures of flowers. Not only that, but virtual games can be played in subtle ways. By that, I mean that there are no huge screens, but instead there are tiny mini-games hidden around the queue.
Ride Through: After boarding your wagon, you'll be on your way, up in fact, while looking at the beauties of Greece down below (using little model Greece villages). Then, you'll be facing towards the tip top of Mt. Olympus. Before actually reaching there, you are stopped by a two-headed beast, which "tumbles" you a quarter down the mountain, where you'll find a tiny hole leading into the mountain. The lit cave is where you'll encounter more strange mythical creatures which are trying to help you. Using animatronics, water, and fire, you'll actually feel the creatures breathing and spitting at you. After quite awhile, you'll find one more cave, before going in and spinning around to find a majestic unicorn getting a sip of water, and twinkling at you.

quest_unicorn_parr.jpg

Exiting the room, you'll yet again be outside on the mountain, and you'll realize you are at the top, right before entering the loading station again.

The ride will have its own soundtrack, similar to the one above, and will feature a piece of the original plans, a walk-through of a cave, and a view of a unicorn lying down, staring at you. This will be a separate unicorn from the one in the ride, and you may choose to just experience the ride or the walk-through.

For now, this is the end, but in the next post, we'll delve into the eerie depths of the Town of Dragondaar.

As always, feedback is appreciated, just please don't start a fight (yes, that includes you two @S.P.E.W and @FireMountain :p). Constructive criticism is welcome, and any suggestions to make this even better (*crosses fingers for someone to ask for more details about the unicorn dark ride*).

So then what’s the point of having Fantasyland here then? Is there going to be a Fantasyland?

Beastly Kingdom

What kind of ride vehicles are the wagons?

What kind of ride vehicles are the wagons?
The ride vehicles are kind of a mix of Omnimovers and the Mine Train vehicles. They spin around, and they sway for a bit.

So then what’s the point of having Fantasyland here then? Is there going to be a Fantasyland?
Yes, there will be a Fantasyland. It's going to have the "usual" attractions in it, plus some new ones. Creating both Beastly Kingdom and Fantasyland is hard, mainly due to not creating too much fantasy in BK, and not creating too much myth in Fantasyland.

Town of Dragondaar
beastlycastle3.preview-590x482.jpg

Venturing to the left bridge, you will find that across from it is a burnt down Stonehenge-like town, with one tower looming above it. This is the Town of Dragondaar, the final sub-land of Beastly Kingdom, which features Dragon's Tower, a true thrill ride.

This sub-land is also quite unique, as it only showcases this one attraction. There are no shops or restaurants, which gives the area the deserted feel, and the feel that everyone has left or has burned.

In the middle of the Stonehenge-esque town, you'll notice some fossils dug up. These fossils are there to represent the dragon's body, a huge, dangerous creature, with menacing green eyes and a thirst for anything... okay, you get the point. :p

Since there is not much to talk about in this land, I will not put the ride experience in a spoiler.

Dragon's Tower
Screen Shot 2013-10-17 at 6.27.43 PM.png

Queue: As you enter the bottom of the dark-colored tower, standing right at the edge of the town's formation, you'll notice that it is dimly lit, and there are a lot of people. While you wind your way through the queue and the mountain, you'll be able to see photographs of the mythical dragon creature, and experience what it's like going through a mountain. If you listen closely, you'll be able to hear spiders and other cave creatures, like bats, scurrying around you. Of course, they are only sound effects.

Pre-Show: As you enter the pre-show theater, you'll be able to see that around the screen is a rock carving of the dragon, with its head at the top.

Narrator: Welcome, welcome all of you, to Dragon's Tower. Here you'll be able to come face to face with the most dreadful creature to ever live in myth... the dragon (The screen shows photos of what man thinks dragons look like, from vikings to today). Above the screen is just a carving of a dragon's head, we would never put you in any harm. Now, today you'll be exploring this burned and abandoned tower that once was owned by the wealthy king, who burned in the fire (Screen clips to video of a fire damaging the town). Please, be safe with your travels, and... (Narrator stops as the dragon's head atop breathes out smoke) Run, run!

Ride: The ride vehicles are much alike Dinosaur, EMVs as they call them. As you board it, you'll start to feel the rumbling of the rocks beneath you as they move to make way for your approaching. As you start to go slower and climb up more, you'll see hanging vines, still minimally on fire, and a bit of the outside world. When you reach the top, the door swings open, and you sharply turn left into the tower, and you can hear the dragon making its way to you. Climbing slower and slower through the tower, you can hear the breath of the dragon, then, another door swings open, and you are face to face with the menacing dragon that lives in the tower!! The vehicle starts roaring up faster, trying to avoid the dragon, but the dragon comes up to the right of you, and you make another sharp turn. This time, you ride over a pressure plate that releases a pile of rocks onto the dragon smashing him to the ground. The EMV slows, and climbs down the tower, before reaching the loading platform.

Well there you have it. Dragon's Tower as I imagine it would be, and what it will be like in my park. As I said before, there will be a Fantasyland, although it is quite tough to have a land dedicated to myth, and one to fantasy in one park, but I got it done.

The next post will be all about Americaland, which I am thinking of changing the name to Westernland or Frontierland, just because I am having a tough time deciding what to put in the land. @spacemt354, @FireMountain, @S.P.E.W any ideas?

As always, feedback appreciated!!

Nice new avatar @MickeyMousketeer !

I'll try to get started on this soon - quick question so I remember how many lands approx are in this park?
Thanks!!

There are going to be approx. 8 lands in the park. Can't wait to see what you create!! Also, would you be willing to also do at least the second park or the shopping area map, too? I totally understand if you can't. :D

We'll take it one step at a time haha - let's get this park under our belts first, I also have MEW's and DisneyFan's to do as well so we'll see:p

Ideally though I'd like to be able to teach it along the process, if you're interested in learning how? That way you then have the skill yourself for your future parks
