Hey everyone, I'm undecided whether or not to go to WDW in May-June or June-July. If I go in May I'll be there for the end of the F&G festival and SWW but if I go in June-July I know it's gonna be crowded but I'll be there for SWW and July 4th. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

If you really want Star Wars weekends I would go May-June because last year it ended on Sunday June 9th. We usually go at this time and love it. Sometimes it will still be cooler than July too. Plus you got the garden festival-lots of fun to see all the toparies.

F&G festival ends the same weekend SWW will theoretically begin. If you would like to hit up both of those events, prefer a somewhat smaller crowd, and like discounts, I would suggest May. However, if you're touring DHS on a SWW, you will run into larger crowds.

Thanks for the replies. I was at the F&G festival this year. I haven't been to SWW for a good few years. I can't believe the price difference for going 2 weeks earlier! The big draw for going in late May is the moderate crowds and SWW, the big draw for going in July is being there for July 4th in MK.

We have gone May-June for 11-14 days each of the last 4 years and will be going again in 2014. Weather is great, crowds are manageable, and we get in two SWW. While I'm sure July 4 would be special, like the Christmas holiday season, it would also be packed. There aren't any slow seasons, just busy and insanely busy. i think July 4 may be one of those insanely busy periods. Additionally, we have not trouble getting ADR's in the May-June timeframe.

How are the crowds the last week of June. I've also hear that the 1st week of June they have Gay pride days. Is that accurate and if so, is the much of difference with the folks that visit the parks?

I can't speak for late June crowds. In reference to gay days, we have gone during this activity multiple times with children under 11 and kids have only picked up on behaviors related to gay days once. We have witnessed lots of straight couple public displays of affection that were a bit over the top at WDW. I have only viewed a few occurences of some hand holding and one male-male kiss along with some clothing related to same sex relationships. The home resort (off-site) may be a bit more over the too but I haven't seen anything at the parks. There are certain parks designated as primary visiting area for the event each day. You will see some participants park hopping or in another park but again if you hav been in an academic environment (college) or metro area I don't think you will even notice. You can go to the gay days webpage if you want to know what paks are which day.

May for Flower & Garden. Although rain and tropical storms are unpredictable, May is likely to have better weather than July. Less humid, fewer thunderstorms.

Gay Days aren't a big deal, crowd-wise. Disney is very gay-friendly and you're likely to encounter gay couples (and staff) all year. So, if you're a big, old homophobe, you should reconsider any Disney vacation. If you aren't, there is no issue. :)

Not an old homophobe but would rather not have to have that conversation with my boys while there. I dont have an issue with anyone's lifestyle and how they choose to live their life but also dont want to see over the top PDA from same sex couples or anyone flaunting their sexuality in public.
