Making your hotel room feel like home

I'm thinking of different ways to make my hotel room at WL feel more like home when we go this July. Truthfully, being at WL is already like being at my second home, but I'm wondering what other little touches I could add to really just take it up a notch. Considering bringing a wallflower with a special "wooded" - or "foresty" - type scent? Anyone ever brought a scented plug in or oil warmer (I assume you can't light a candle??)? Any other suggestions?

Other than my family members, I don't bring anything to make it feel like home. I don't want it to feel like home, I want it to feel like vacation. :) However, I have been known to buy a new scent of bath gel, body spray, and body lotion to use on a trip to Disney so that I associate that scent with my vacation. Then when I use those products at home, I feel a teenie tiny bit like I'm on vacation. :D

- I always unpack my items so I can stash my luggage where its not visible

- I toss a small throw blanket on the bed that I pack in my carry on

- Having snacks in the room and beverages in the fridge keeps us from having to always venture into the resort common areas so we can relax

- Though it seems like a lot to travel with I make sure to pack all kinds of travel sized toiletries to include bath salts to soak achy feet after a long day at the park, as well as hand soap so I can keep the Disney themed ones for home. (BTW you would be surprised how quickly these products go, I rarely come home with them)

- Since smell is the strongest memory inducing sense I find that candles are a great way to change the atmosphere and scent of a room. I prefer a small self contained candle either found in a tin or glass and tend to go with clean relaxing smells like Lavender, grapefruit, etc etc

- Lastly I remove all pamphlets and advertisements found near the phone or around the room and hide them in a drawer. I'm aware that I am on vacation but reminders of these things bring me into the real world when I just want to be comfortable and relaxed.

Once we are in our room....I turn the TV on to the Disney Station. I unpack and store my suitcase out of sight in the closet. I put all my toiletries in the bathroom and shower because I know that when we return to the hotel after the park, I will be too tired to find anything. I put clothes in the drawers and plug in my computer or i-Pad. Then I relax for a few minutes while I pack the bag I bring into the park......i-Phone or camera, cash, gift card whatever I think I will need. I put my sneakers on and head into the park....usually The MK. :cat:

Agreed. We're on vacation. We don't want it to feel like home. We want it to feel like Disney World.

I must travel with my pili - it is a pillow since I have said since I was 2years old (I am almost 32 now, lol). Outside of that - I always unpack my luggage. I get a severe headache when I travel with people and they live out of a suitcase. I hide my luggage as much as possible. I used to bring a light air freshener but there is a smell in the rooms when it is freshly cleaned by mousekeeping that I appreciate walking into. I am usually at the resort for 5 or more nights so I try to make it as homely as possible. Then the night before I leave I stuff everything in my bag and dread going home, lol
