Magic Kingdom Files Wrecking Company Permit for Tomorrowland Bridge

A wrecking company permit has been filed for the Tomorrowland Bridge at Magic Kingdom, with D.H. Griffin Wrecking Company listed as the contractor. The work is likely structural repair rather than full demolition, with the drained castle moat giving crews easier access to the bridge infrastructure.

I’ve been told that if full demo is necessary, they’ll just blow up the bridge using the TNT that was supposed to be for the refurbed Big Thunder finale. In addition, there will be a special adult only Tomorrowland Bridge Demolition Dessert Viewing Party for the price of $89.99 per person. A commemorative cupcake will also debut at the Main Street Bakery on this particular day. No word on spirit jerseys tho

It would be nice to see them put in some cohesive and compelling thought into Tomorrowland... Something to actually fit the theme.... and not a purple wall or shuttered attractions... Monsters need to move over to Monstropolis... something fitting "Tomorrowland" needs to move in....
My guess, laugh floor goes to the Muppet theater, and the space is Tomorrowland gets shuttered

Wonder if they would consider adding another hub ring for more fireworks viewing/faster access to the bypassView attachment 920801
Those green patches near the bottom left (which also exist to the left of the shot) were part of what was designed to deal with this... Then they decided crowd control and guest satisfaction wasn't as important as the up-sell they realized they could use that space for.

Point is, they could do a lot to deal with this without a lick of construction since the work was already done. I don't see them shelling out cash to add complexity to walking paths to handle what they already decided was not a priority after the last round of construction.

They could also design a fireworks show that doesn't prioritize direct front viewing as the only ideal spot, too like they used to - either find other things besides the castle to also projection map on or make it less of a central point.*

If I'm not mistaken, DL projects in front of their IASW as well. That location obviously wouldn't work here but maybe they could do something similar.

*I'm pretty sure the heavier use of the projection was a cost-saver and (much) lesser extent, an environmental decision so the level of use is likely not to change unless they're able to do drones or some other such thing.

While I agree that the upcharge on the gardens is annoying, opening them up doesn't fix the problem. Anything they add that has even middling to fair views of both the front of the castle and the fireworks (including the proposed path you quoted) will immediately become clogged with people regardless, which is why they should focus on Main Street arcades and alternate desirable viewing angles instead. The arcades wouldn't have views of the show that would see people stopping in the middle of the pathway, and alternate views with their own projections might encourage some of the throngs to go elsewhere.

E-Z Pass gantries are being installed, no LL or toll taker CM’s needed…

They just repainted them. They're likely to stay. However, I would like it if they demolished the remaining '94 decorative spacecraft-shaped elements that flank the bridge.

Probably, but it wouldn't be the first time they've repainted, recarpeted, etc. before tearing out a few months later.

We can hope!

I agree that a major part of the problem (maybe nearly all of it) was the change in show setup that made in front of the castle the only complete viewing area in the park.

I was just pointing out that back when they were doing work to help address the current problem (this was designed as a reserved option for Fast Pass before they ditched that for cash, too), they scrapped the effort to handle more guests safely than they currently could in favor of turning a quick buck so I wouldn't count on a major new construction effort to deal with an issue they seem to have changed their mind of having serious concern over.

That example shows though that when they have to choose between an up-sell and a release valve, they'll take the upsell at the expense of efforts to preserve the general guest experience which is unfortunate.

Finding a way to throw projections on the Haunted Mansion and/or the back side of the Cars attraction or something similar and adding a bit in the way of small pyro on those structures to provide any sort of alternative to the castle experience, I could possibly see, though, if it's a structure they can line a viewing area up with that matches the direction of the big pyro from behind the park.

If they got rid of Flying carpets, Tiki Room entrance might work in Adventurland, for example.

If they do that I hope they sync it to the Reflections of Earth opening music
