Magic Kingdom Daily Opening Ceremony at Park Entrance?

Does the Magic Kingdom still have the daily opening ceremony at the train station before the park opens each day? Mickey and friends would arrive on the train to welcome you to the Kingdom. If so, how early should one be there to experience it?

Not anymore. The welcome ceremony has been moved to the castle stage and is performed about 8:50 am. You can enter the MK any time after 8 am on a regular park opening day of 9 am. All the shops on Main Street are open and you can walk around the hub but all the entrances to the lands are closed until official opening time.

Thanks! I just decided to go find it on YouTube. Not nearly as good as the train entrance! But it does get one closer to the rope drop on time.

The change was probably somebody's ideal to save money by not having to fire up the show train, which is different than the passenger trains, and a chance to make more money by letting people in an hour early with nothing to do but spend money.

The change timing also coencided with the refurb of the train station... Which lead to the new station sign (ducks n hides before that argument starts up, again)

It's definitely a chance to make more money but the main reason actually is security. They are trying to spread the opening crowd out more rather then having a densely populated crowd held up at opening. Removes the possibility of soft target potential incidents.
