Bingo. And if you did, how would that work out for your career? I'm guessing like me, it would end poorly.

If that's the case, then why is what I said so shocking? If that's truly how you feel, you should want Disney to have a professional business policy. It isn't blocking someones free speech. If free speech doesn't apply to an employee/employer relationship, as you've said. Then how would said company be restricting it? All it would be restricting is a minefield of crap that seems to come up on so many projects. When someone isn't under contract, say whatever you want, it's Disneys choice to sign you after that. But no one can complain about hate speech when it's ok for one side and not the other.but neither do I think those actors should be immune from the consequences of their speech. If Disney wishes to fire someone for extreme speech, that’s their right and a risk the actor knowingly took.
The reality is that outside of the click-bait articles that posts these things no one would hardly know what she or any other celebrity says.I think you overestimate the impact of those comments. Some fans may care, but many don't. The public at large certainly doesn't care.
She has fans? Her words and others who speak like her are and have been spreading violent rhetoric.
She wishes no peace to individuals. What if her fans act upon those words? She is inciting violence
Ignoring the rest of your post as it's not allowed on the forum per the mods and is spreading known false rhetoric.
Not fans, but fellow activistsShe has fans?
Experienced people in Hollywood entertainment CLEARLY know what is "allowed" to be said and what is "NOT" allowed to be said.Have they fired anyone other than Carano for this social-media posts? I don't think it's a common practice.
But that's kind of cop out answer though. The problem is all the actors don't have the same rights. You say you don't like hate speech, then you should be angry at Disney for allowing it, no matter the side. And putting in a policy, like SO MANY other businesses have, would be good for the company overall. It seems like so many people here say they don't like hate speech. But at the same time refuse to take Disney to task for the same thing. That's the perception, right or wrong.I found it shocking because I don't favour blanket policies that restrict what certain people can say online. Actors should, in my opinion, have the same right as the rest of us to post their thoughts, even if those thoughts end up getting them disciplined or fired.
Or they can just go see the movie. If it takes click bait articles to reveal the hateful beliefs that people want the public to know, so be it. People who may be interested in seeing Snow White should know how the people involved with it feel about and wish upon them.
There were people who thought Tim Allen was replaced with Chris Evans in Lightyear due to political views. But that proved false as Allen was still hired for The Santa Clause D+ seriesHave they fired anyone other than Carano for this social-media posts? I don't think it's a common practice.
For an industry that has spent years covering up rampant assault and abuse, including as it relates to minors, it is amazing they have the gall to lecture anyone about anything, or pretend they are worried about "our future".Experienced people in Hollywood entertainment CLEARLY know what is "allowed" to be said and what is "NOT" allowed to be said.
If you want to keep your job, if you want stay connected, if you want to be invited to Hollywood social events?....you say the "proper" things. The more "proper" your opinions are?...the better you can do in that industry.
The only people who publicly post "wrong-think" are the ones that are retiring from the industry or are ready to walk away from it completely. Hollywood is a hive-mind mentality. It's a business mixed with a deep political/social club.
Gina either did not understand this or she was ready to leave it anyway.
Zegler? She will be 100% APPLAUDED in Hollywood social circles for her opinion. She will gain HUGE Hollywood "street cred" for her posts....and she knows this.
You can say the same about many ”industries,” including some religious ones that lecture people about morality. Why single out Hollywood? For an industry that has spent years covering up rampant assault and abuse, including as it relates to minors, it is amazing they have the gall to lecture anyone about anything, or pretend they are worried about "our future".
This thread is about a hollywood movie and one of the stars of that movie who happens to have a lot to say about things...Why single out Hollywood?
I feel for you. Used to be my church too. This thread is about a hollywood movie and one of the stars of that movie who happens to have a lot to say about things...
Also, I don't think we are allowed to discuss the disappointing aspects of my church here...

I doubt that Zegler has "frig you" money. She is young and wants to have a long career ahead of her. She will definitely want Hollywood's social establishment behind her and getting her into future projects. If she is applauded in those high-powered social circles? If she is seen as a loyal Hollywood social justice warrior who is taking fire for the cause? They can do quite a bit for her in the future to keep her working. You forgot the ones that have “frig you" money
I agree. I don’t believe what either of them said rises to the level of hate speech.I don’t perceive Zegler’s posts as hate speech. Neither, for what it’s worth, do I Carano’s. Hate speech is a very particular phenomenon, in some contexts legally defined, and I don’t think any of the examples under discussion here rise to it.
So no, it isn’t a cop-out answer.
I would love to see the original script too; I don’t buy all the theories about multiple changes.I doubt that Zegler has "frig you" money. She is young and wants to have a long career ahead if her. She will definitely want Hollywood's social establishment behind her and getting her into future projects. If she is applauded in those high-powered social circles? She reminds me of a young Jane Fonda, but for our day. Hollywood protected Fonda and helped promote her back in those days too.
What this means for the movie in a few months? I don't know. Y'know, I'd pay maybe $500 just to see the original movie scripts looked like "before" all the massive reshoots. I would LOVE to know how this project started and how it "morphed" into the final version. I suspect it started with something and wound up COMPLETELY changing 180 degrees into something else that was FAR less controversial.
