Nope - the ToT was. 199ft is the limit for no lights. A lot of these unknown facts are really very well know, or just wrong. Such is the way of fokelore and myth.

Sorry I didn't make it clear:eek: When we asked a cast member about the odd 189 number, that was what he told us. I now think, after your correction, that Herb Ryman just had an odd (get it odd) sense of humor! I know about the ToT also, it would take away from the 1930s theme, according to a couple of Disney books, to have a light on top. However, the OP has since responded that this type of info. is not what was asked for.:animwink:

No sorry

Actually it came from a park in Detroit.

...there are many books to prove it came from Oakland Park,NJ.
Here is part of an article about it.

Year Opened: 1971
No self-respecting amusement park would be without a carousel. As you would expect, Disney's is spectacular.

There's a lot of history behind Cinderella's Golden Carrousel. Legend has it that Walt Disney was inspired to include one after taking his daughter's to the merry-go-round at LA's Griffith Park.

It was built by Italian woodcarvers in 1917 and featured at Olympic Park in Maplewood, New Jersey. For trivia fans, it's technically the oldest attraction in Fantasyland. Now it plays Disney tunes as it spins. We somehow doubt that was the case 90 years ago.

When Disney acquired it, the company artists refurbished the 90 horses so that no two are exactly alike. There are eighteen hand painted scenes that tell the story of Cinderella on the wooden canopy that covers this attraction.

That's a common misconception quoted by a lot of books and websites. But it was in Detroit before NJ:

Cinderella’s Golden Carousel serves as the centerpiece of Fantasyland and lies directly behind Cinderella Castle and between Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Mickey’s PhilharMagic. One of the original attractions at Disney’s Magic Kingdom when the theme park opened on October 1, 1971, the carousel was built in 1917 and originally located at the Detroit Palace Garden Park and finally at Olympic Park in Maplewood, New Jersey. http://www.orlando-florida.net/walt-disney-world/disneys-magic-kingdom/fantasyland/cinderellas-golden-carousel.htm

The Cinderella' S Golden Carousel of Magic Kingdom is a true carousel built in 1917 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company for the park Detroit De luxe hotel Garden Park . It was returned to Philadelphia in 1928 for restoration then reinstalled in the New Jersey with the Olympic Park of Maplewood, closed in 1967. Attraction remained 39 years there. http://www.speedylook.com/Carousel_of_the_Disney_parks.html

Go into the 'Tune-In Lounge" at the 50's Prime Time Cafe and watch the TVs above the bar.

The farthest one of the left plays a color commercial for LaserDisc.

However, out of those 3 TVs, only that one works right now.

They shouldn't have to bump a thread if they can get all the information they need from it. The search function is there for a reason, but if people want to waste bandwidth re-posting new threads on topics that have been posted many times, then I can freely criticize them for doing so(And waste more bandwidth!)...

Can't you just ignore it? Maybe there are new people who want to play.

If you have an eletric car that needs to be charged while parking is it still stealing to charge the car for storage while it is being charged for parking, or is charging the car prior to being charged for parking the way to avoid stealing for being charged for charging while parking?
