Little girl gets accidentally leveled by CM during parade

The report said nothing about trying to get money out of Disney, but I can bet after everyone telling them to and lawyers looking for the big pay day, it will head that direction.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
It is? Was it always on the sign? That happened about four or five years ago now and I swear I dont remember a sign, and I usually dont miss stuff like that.
Touche. I do not know that far back. Now that I find myself on the losing side of this discussion, I will change the subject: boy, that attractions sucks, huh?

Oh I know, I didnt mean that he deliberately wanted her to get hit or fall. It's just not smart to do a spin like that with little kids around. If they are doing stuff like that, then the kids shouldnt be next to them.

The small child moved into the area by the CM, the CM did not move towards the child.

Soooooo why is the parent video taping instead of watching out for their child's safety?

LOL

We made a big stink about it with Disney when we got home so I'm wondering if thats why the sign went up, because I am so influential :)

It wasn't a little scare. Do you have kids?

When this was the Alien version I was a child and it scared the living bejesus out of me! As an adult I have been back with many friends and girlfriends and even my wife as of now, I always tell the storie of how scared I was and how I cried as a child.... It is now a must do for me everytime I go! Just because a ride is scary does not mean it will ruin a memory. In my case it is one of my fondest memories. How many other rides felt that real back then?

Disney did a great job on that attraction. Also look at bugs life, everytime I go there are deffinately children crying. All Disney did was sell the story to a point that children think it is actually real. As we grow older we realize that they are fake and laugh at the sad times that now bring us back for the great times.

One Little Spark...
Really, I don't think the parent was being neglectful in this. There's no way her or the kid could have expected a roundhouse punch, accidental or not, from that over excited spin move. The CM was at fault, and should have been more aware of his surroundings.

That being said, it's not worth a lawsuit either. But, I am surprised Disney Management didn't get involved immediately (meaning, area / park management) and quell this quickly...if it had happened my in restaurant (which also had overly excited teenage Cast Members dancing in close proximity to younger kids that can escape their notice), I would have comped the meal, tossed in passes / tokens, and even offered to call Emergency Services if the Mom wanted (which our legal probably would have paid for, to prevent a lawsuit)...

That being said, stuff like this does happen. Once, while in costume, I jumped off the stage doing a bell kick and clocked a 3 year old right in the head with my foot. Other times, I've either personally hit a kid (in something like this) or been party to one of my Cast Members having it happen to them. I know the CM wasn't trying to do this, but the move was grossly inappropriate for such close quarters, and I'm sure he learned from the incident.

Also...this should in no way be lawsuit material. THAT is such a crock.

I do, but they are 37 and 39 now, but, they were young once. Maybe they picked up my viewpoint that I have yet to find anything scary at WDW. Even though I can get into "suspension of dis-belief" there is just so far that I can take it before it becomes just a show. Back in the day when they were young 6 & 8 nothing seemed to phase my girls at all. Went to everything, never heard a sound or mention of fear. :)

^^^This...that is what I noticed too. The child moved towards the CM. She was behind the other child and moved between the other child and the CM. It may be a fun event, but you still have to be a parent and watch for your child's safety.

Indeed. It's a tad silly to try to assign blame here... it's not the CM's fault, it's not Disney's fault, it's not the kid's fault and it's not the parent's fault.

Just an accident. Glad there seems to be no real damage. I hope it doesn't lead to a lawsuit - or settlement - and I hope it doesn't lead to any changes.

There will be signs everywhere. They will be very similar to what you find over at Mission: Space.

Warning: Move it, Shake it! is a highly interactive dance party. There are moving characters and jumping CMs. Guests under the age of 8, or not on a leash, should refrain from participating. We also offer less intense viewings where we broadcast the party on a TV and you can watch from the safety of the sidelines.

Is a leash With a studded leather dog collar acceptable? Asking for friends.

If Disney refuses to speak to the family, the family may have no choice but to sue them.

I'd have apologized, insisted they have the kid checked out (and paid for that) and I'd have sent the kid a basket of Disney stuff.

I'm not big on people suing Disney. Really not. But they shouldn't force people to sue them just to get a response!
