Lion King Dark Ride

That's one of my disappointments with the FLE. I think with all the land they are using, that there is easily some room for an additional smallish attraction or two -- and I think Sleeping Beauty would be the prime candidate for some recongition. I mean, couldn't they have added a show building to the side of the Mine Coaster (and covered it with rockwork so it looks like the rest of the mine mountain) and had Aurora's cottage attached as a ride entrance for a classic dark ride based on Sleeping Beauty? You wouldn't need a large footprint for that and it would finally get a presence for a movie that deserves it. (Similarly, how does Cinderella not have any presence in DLR?)

Cinderella is not DL's princess, Aurora is. It's no excuse but all the magic kingdom style parks do this. Just like MK has a restaurant based on Cinderella, and DL has the Sleeping Beauty walkthrough, along with Paris.

Edit: I just realized Cinderella is represented in the Storybookland Canal attraction in Fantasyland at Disneyland. I knew if I thought I could figure out something!

Here's Cinderelly's castle, along with her village and her pumpkin carriage.

Yay! Goodf for LA! I love Cinderella. I like the old princess stories best.

SB in WDW I can think of is limited to Maleficent in Villains in Vogue, and the prince and the dragon in DTD. Aurora herself is only present as a m&G I think.
Bah.

I think I am Lion King'd out. It's a bit overused in the parks in general IMO, plenty of other properties to look at first.

LOL Cindy's castle at Disneyland looks nothing like MK's! LMAO, I wonder why her castle is pink??? Anyways, maybe they'll decide to put in attraction about Aurora? I'd love a more in-dpeth Cinderella attraction at Disneyland. We can only hope. I love Cinderella too, by the way. One of my favorite Disney movies.

I'm aware that the different castles are themed differently and that the one in DL is Aurora's. Though I didn't realize Storybookland Canal Boats had a Cinderella scene, but that's a minor think and not a real "presence" for Cindy in DL, just like having Maleficent in Fantasmic! in DHS isn't really representing Sleeping Beauty in WDW.

Call me strange, but I feel like the major classic films should all have at least one attraction in each resort. Something themed specifically to that franchise. Not having Sleeping Beauty somewhere in WDW strikes me as an oversight and something that could/should have been corrected with the FLE. I guess it was going to be with the original plans for multiple M&G houses instead of the mine train, but like I said, more attractions could have been included in the FLE.

Animal Kingdom.
I think Disney needs to add a new land in DAK that is centered around Pride Rock with coaster inside. Around it having the ancient castle and village from Jungle book that has a dancing type thing maybe a dark ride and some type of Bambi presence. As for Sleeping Beauty she has three castles what more could she need, although I would love a dark ride. In my oppinion the next films to get a dark ride should be: Cinderella: one in her castle, Beauty and the Beast, Mr. Toad (updated), Brave area in Magic Kingdom, Wall'e, Pinocchio, Jungle book, Robin Hood, and Aladin

Pinocchio already has a dark ride in Disneyland. ;)

ive always said that a lion king safari dark ride, that would go in and outside and a alladin carpet dark ride would be very interesting. They could do very cool things with them.

Lion King would make an excellent dark ride. I mean it's kind of a dark movie with Scar killing his own brother. Love the idea and it would be a terrific addition to AK.

You realize that Lion King (Africa), Jungle Book (Asia) and Bambi (US) take place in completely different countries, right?

True, but they can make a cartoony/fantasy type animal land, that would fit all of them in there. I think a Lion King ride of some sort should be built in AK. Nothing wrong with Avatar, but I think Disney should use their own resources first, build stuff that families can enjoy together, then build Avatar after that.

Actually, I could totally dig that. A DAK land based on Disney 'animal' movies. Like a mini-DAK. Jungle book for Asia, Lion King for Africa, Bambi for North America. Something like that. They could even add a 'Dinosaur' area, and de-infantilise adult dinoland.

My first thought when I saw this post was I would love a Lion King dark ride however it will either go one of two ways, 1) include scar and therefore have a "scare" factor such as Snow White's Scary Adventures did or 2) be dimmed down and just include the songs in the Lion King therefore not displaying the story of The Lion King.

I agree that Sleeping Beauty is maybe the most underrepresented classic on WDW property. In my opinion, it is still the most beautiful Disney movie ever made. It literally looks like stained glass throughout the film.

I don't know how this could be changed, but a Dragon in a show that SERIOUSLY needs updating and a few M&Gs are really selling this masterpiece short.

Sorry, I forgot the $250 tea time at GF.

I think it's a no-brainer to build a coaster themed to Sleeping Beauty where riders are put in the perspective of Prince Phillip racing through a forest of thrones and through ruins to defeat the Maleficent dragon.

I think a Lion King dark ride would be fun in Adventureland.

Would love to see a Hercules dark ride in a "Beastly Kingdom" addition to DAK if it would ever happen...that's a great way to portray some of the animals from Greek Myths, via Hercules and a dark ride.
