Lego Set as a Carry On. Can this be done?

I picked up a Really good deal on a lego set while out of town on a business trip.
Now I m trying to figure out the easiest way to get it back with me.
I am checking a bag but it will not fit in my suitcase.
It meets the size requirements for a carry on so I am hoping that it would be ok to take it with me on the plane. Does anyone know if this is allowed.

People carry bags of things like this on the plane all the time. Your only constraint is the size of the item.

Depending on the kit and where you buy it - some come in shipping style boxes (vs the retail display box) that could be checked.

I think its okay....I have seen similar stuff in the store package carried on no problem.
