Late September or Early October?

We are starting to plan our family vacation for 2020 and are having a tough time deciding on either late September or one of the first two weeks in October. Can anyone offer any advice on which one we should pick. The various sources I have looked at said the crowd levels are either about the same, or bad in October. We have gone once in October to Disneyland, but not Disney World. The group traveling will be my wife and I, and our two kids, 5 and 8. We are planning on staying for eight days on property. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Weve done both months. The biggest unknown is the weather. Those months, especially Sept. can bring in chances of more rainy periods. As you get into October it starts to get better. Sept can be more humid as well. As far as crowds... both months have gotten more crowded than years ago when it was considered a slower time period. I would say Sept is still slightly better than Oct crowd wise. Check on the MNSSHP dates for avoiding MK which will close early for the events. Also check on the planned attractions closures for maintenance or refurb so you know what might be missed.

September is the peak of hurricane season, though Orlando may not have had a major storm in years there is all ways chance. October the hurricanes drop off. Don't know if trip insurance is available

Thank you all for the advice. With the crowds being about the same, I think we will try to shoot for the first week or two of October. There seems to be less of a chance of a hurricane during that time, but you have to just cross your fingers and hope. It will hopefully be less hot during that time as well.
