Last minute Resort Booking

Hello My wife and I are having this crazy Disney itch and we just moved to North Carolina. We want to drive down tonight(10/14/16) and stay two nights possibly even just Saturday night. Does anyone have any tips as to booking, getting the best deal? Whats it like to walk right up to the counter? Also we are passholders.

I am also wondering if there is a thread or maybe another website where people can't go to the resort they booked and its too late for them to cancel but they are trying to give it up.

Thank you for any help! :)

Best bet is to either call or look online with your AP discount to see what's available. Unfortunately for your case, it might not be much or the rooms will be ridiculously expensive since the standard/upgraded views tend to go quickly with the AP discounts. I definitely wouldn't recommend walking up to a resort counter asking about availability.

If you're not opposed to it, check out the Swan and Dolphin rate, as they're usually more reasonable in circumstances such as yours.

Good luck and keep us updated as to what you found!

Ever use Priceline? Unless you have to stay onsite, you can get some good deals. We have done the bidding thing and also express deals and have always gotten some really good places. We always choose four star rated or higher and with express deals, pick based on rating. Now some people don't like not knowing what hotel until after you book and pay, and there is no refund if you don't like it, but for us, that is part of the fun. And again, we have gotten some amazing places offsite for much less than even Disney value resorts. Another way we look at it, even if you wind up with a place you don't really care for, you are only gonna be there a couple of days. We do this when we want to add a day or two before or after a week long reservation we want to extend.
Again, this is not for everyone, but is a strategy that has worked well for us on short notice.

There might not be time left, but a certain DVC rental company that I'm probably not allowed to link to (it rhymes with DVC Dental Sore) has a decent amount of points that expire on Dec. 1st available for $8.00 a point right now. Now, that's pending availability, so it's risky to not have a backup option as well, but you can luck into a room at Saratoga (they have to be used at Saratoga). If you can get it, a stay of tonight through Sunday is only $272, and through Monday it's $384. That's a scorching deal.
