Know-it-alls are annoying

Seriously?! The people on this board are the most kind and helpful that I've ever encountered on the internet. They just make me happy! It's like my family on the internet while my fiance is gone for two months!

While most posters are both nice and helpful there is a whole contingent of people that do not understand the difference between commenting on a post and attacking the poster, or worse they do and just don't care.

I do not experience this type of behaviour on other boards. In every other forum I check regularly people are just nice and give opinions and advice without eviscerating poster's character. Even when there are disagreements it doesn't immediately turn to name calling. People discuss the topic the merits of the arguments without getting personal.

I know the anonymity of the net protects a certain passive aggressive personality type and the net is filled with those people, but in most forums where people are discussing a common interest and not debating sports, politics, or the like there is a healthier level of respect.

I find it doubly surprising that I run into the most personal abuse and negativity on a site devoted to Disney.

I do not visit other Disney forums with any regularity, but there is no shortage of scurrilous behavior on other forums. This forum is by far the nicest place this side of the cute overload comment section.

As I said, this is the only Disney forum I frequent, and most people are great, but I am often appalled and enraged at the comments some posters make and I have to leave the forums for a while just to maintain my own sanity. This is the only board where that happens to me.

I'm not doubting the OP, I am just surprised to hear there are worse Disney places on the net, because it would be hard for me to imagine some place worse than the behaviour I experience here.

Passive aggressive? I remember when a former member trotted that phrase out almost every post.

I find it hard to believe that youve never encountered personal attacks on message boards Ive yet to find a site that doesnt have its daily dose ( and not by me). Unless of course its the Disney Moms site, there they just PM each other bitchy comments.

I personally prefer to maintain multiple user names. I keep this one clean, while using the others to call people names and criticize their personal hygiene. The mods have never caught on so...wait...never mind.

It happens more frequently than you might think. For all you know my other onsite personality is an irreverent Scot who has an affinity for warthogs. ;)

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say how much I love you all. :D Okay, now that's out of the way.

Occasionally I'll post on a different forum if I need multiple opinions quickly. I won't say which forum, but I will say it's a DVC member forum. Whenever I post here, I always receive opinions and lots of them, and 9 times out of 10, they answer my question! On this other forum that will not be named, I've noticed that I occasionally get answers, but 9 times out of 10, they're picking apart whatever I said and telling me why it's a terrible idea and what I should do differently because it makes more sense. I can't stand a know-it-all!

Once again, I love all of you. Please, never change!
I can't help it that I know everything.

It's a blessing...and a curse.

I can't imagine posting under dual user names with Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde-like contrasting personalities.

I'm bumping this thread as I made a comment on it about another WDW site I go on that really annoys me as in their 'chat' section no matter you you ask you get criticised!

Well it's just happened again! I just asked about kidney infections as a colleague says she has one and will be off for 5 days! Anyway I asked if anyone else were told they needed 5 days to recuperate and people are moaning at me! "Why do you need to know" "your human resources dept should be dealing with it!"

I love you guys so much, don't ever change!!!

I belong to a couple other forums but, quit posting on them about 6 months ago because I was tired of getting rude responses. Here, most of the time people are friendly & objective. People on those other forums ask for your opinion & then slam you for your response. Can't stand that!

If you were wondering...I once had a kidney infection. Four doctors (including an ER doctor) missed it. It's hard to treat and makes you miserable. I was out a week and a half from school. Picture the worst stomach virus of your life and then multiply it times two. That's what you've got. And then afterward, you have to be careful about eating, moving (I believe I was out of PE for a while afterward if memory serves correct).

I'm not surprised you were curious; it's pretty rare and weird to get one and until you've had one...you just can't understand what it's like. Just give your coworker the benefit of the doubt:). It also gets harder as you get older...

I read this forum topic and thought, "I'm sorry! I can't help it! Don't be mad!!!"

But yes, I normally frequent this one because I feel like you can say something and won't get bashed. A new member recently said something rather rude to me. It was along the lines of "What do you know? You're a teenager, you don't work for Disney...blah blah blah." I politely responded that as someone who has spent over a year of her life in Disney, whose parents had been even more, and who has spent many hours learning about the way Disney operates, that yes, I did know what I was talking about. I understand this person is new and doesn't understand how we operate on here yet, but I ignored this person anyway.

I do like this forum. On a lot of forums, young people can't reveal their age because they feel like they'll get demeaned or that their opinions won't be valued, or that they'll get bashed. I end up going on a lot of mostly-teen and young adult forums because I feel like I won't get bashed, plus if I do, there are easier reporting methods. I'm almost 18, and have never been afraid to admit it on here because the adults give proper respect. Plus there are other young people here as well.

As someone who has been to Disney 42 times, I end up mostly giving advice. I really try to not insult others. Even though I may think you have no taste if you eat at a certain place, I won't state it. I'll simply say why I think it's horrible. When planning, I try to explain my reasoning without telling people that they are wrong, and try to understand the line between best and personal preference. I like staying up until 2 am in MK. Some may not. I personally don't like getting up early. This does not make me lazy; it makes me 17. My philosophy is to just be nice to strangers on the internet.

FWIW.. when I had a kidney infection I was hospitalized for 4 days. Went into the ER in complete convulsions and shaking uncontrollably. I don't think I was able to eat or drink until like day 3.

They can be nasty :(

My co worker does this a lot, she ended up taking 5 days off in the end, she then said she had a headache so she must have had a bad reaction to the antibiotics. She is known for lying about illnesses. Btw, she's only 32, I'd hate to see how frail she is in years to come! Today was her 1st day back. I've over it now anyway!
