Kingdom WDW's Trip Repor'!

When I went to California earlier this year, our tagline was "Wildfires can't stop us." Now it seems to be "Tropical Storms can't stop us."

Our official vacation was supposed to be from August 20th-26th, staying at the Beach Club at the Stone Harbor Club with a standard view room. However, a little storm called Faye rolled along. Spirit, of course, had to cancel our flight (but it took off anyway) and we were forced to make new reservations, which wasn't as bad for Disney, but Spirit Airlines was a pain in the backside.

We took off from Atlantic City on August 21st. We hit some bad turbulence on the way and the flight was packed. (At least when we got back I made a recording of the Jack Wagner tram spiel :D) After waiting in line for what seemed like hours, we finally got onto our Magical Express which was, in a word, magical. By now it was showering and somewhat windy, but we got to the Beach Club safely.

The Beach Club is my favorite hotel for a number of reasons, including the pool, location, amenities, and everything else. We were met by a concierge who took us to the fifth floor. There, we met the concierge at the front desk, took care of reservations, and went to get some food at what we call "The Magical Food Place". When we got to our room, I was extremely excited. Not only was our room stunning (just refurbed, we were the third family to stay there) we had a water view room! (More like a balcony facing a courtyard with the pool and Crescent Lake in the distance.) Since we had reservations at San Angel Inn, we decided to head on over to Epcot.

I love the International Gateway area because of the serenity of it. Before I knew it, I was in Epcot, my first park of the vacation! (Though security was always an issue, I had a duffel bag with my Hidden Mickeys Guide, and another bag inside that with my camcorder.) Also, for future reference, it is raining and windy, and will continue to do so until our third day. At this point I believe we went into Future World to ride Soarin' and Test Track (both with mild waits.) I also finally got to into Club Cool, which was an "experience" to say the least. ;) (And Epcot fans don't fret, I did head over to the gallery during my vacation.)

After that it was time for Mexico. We went on the Gran Fiesta Tour first, which was cool. I defnitely enjoyed it a lot more the second time around. My dinner was great and very tasty. :slurp: After that we popped in and out of the WS pavilions (and now I can say I have visited every pavilion!) next in Norway, then China (lots of pics) and then on to Germany and Italy. Since the rest of my family wanted to shop, and I had a camera memory card to fill, I walked around and took pictures. (Still raining) We skipped AA on this day because a family member didn't want to see it. In Japan, while my family visited the Mitsoukoshi Department Store, I explored the pavilion, and it was worth it. Heh, I can't remember what I did after that, but I know we went back to Japan to watch RoE.

The long-prolonged day 2:

Today we had breakfast at the concierge (as we did for all breakfastes) and headed on over to Epcot. It was pretty much empty. Innoventions Plaza and the Fountain of Nations may have had three or four other people in it. Judging from my photos, it looked like we were off to Ellen's Energy Adventure. Not many people at all, actually. EEA was fun, and I enjoyed it more I thought I would. After that it was on to Test Track (again.) I never really got tired of that ride, to be honest.

The rest of my family wanted to go on that ride that replaced Horizons, but I wasn't a huge fan of that ride and skipped it. So then I just took pictures and video of the area. After that, it was off to Spaceship Earth! Woo-hoo! I didn't really love it. I could really take it or leave it. I don't really know why. After that, judging by the timing of my pictures, it looked like we were off to Soarin'. After that, it was off to the Seas with Nemo and Friends (the ride) and then we headed out to the monorail station to go the Magic Kingdom, since we were meeting friends.

This was my first time sitting up front in the monorail, so it was very cool. We kind of rushed to the meeting place, but stopped en route to pick up a Mickey Premium Bar. Yummy!! Since the remainder of our party had not yet arrived, we waited around SM/BTMRR. After that point, I stopped taking pictures so as to not be a PITA the nine others who were following me blindly around the Magic Kingdom. I believe we went on Splash Mountain after we got the party together, and then headed on over to Pirates of the Caribbean, and then to the Mansion. Not much of a line at Pirates, but we took another queue, so maybe that was why. This was my first time in the Haunted Mansion in four years, but it was a little botched because the HM narration was messed up. (The Ghost Host sounded like the Aflac duck.) But we went on another time so we could hear the narration. After that, it was off to It's a Small World and Tomorrowland, including Space Mountain, the TTA, and Buzz Lightyear. After waiting in Stand-by for SM, I felt that I could never listen to the Star Tunnel Music ever again. After that, it was a delightful dinner at Cosmic Ray's (great rotisserie chicken) and then we did Snow White, and I believe Peter Pan's. I'm not quite sure what we did after that, but I realized something important...a member here has a signature that goes along the lines of "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain." During the first few days of vacation, it was raining and pouring. But why would we not have fun? It was raining and windy, but we went on BTMRR twice in a row, Splash Mountain with no wait, and had one of the greatest times of our lives. What would happen if we stayed in the hotel all night, or just stuck to indoor attractions? There seems to be an increasing amount of people that won't go out in the rain to have fun. (Literally and figuratively speaking.) I also saw Wishes for the first time, and it was phenonemal.

Thanks for your trip report. I don't really like being wet but at WDW I would buy a poncho and go for it. Why not? No lines and a different experience on all of the outdoor attractions.
