I think a dark ride with all of the Disney Classics and Masterpieces would work. There is so many great movies that can be made into dark rides I say we make one with all of them. Like a Great Movie Ride but for Classics. You can have a theme like the "Jimmy Neutron" in Universal Studio, where all the cartoon charactors get together in one story. You can have Dumbo, Little Mermaid, Hercules, Pinochio.....and so on.

Oh ok nevermind then I havent seen Philharmagic yet still have no clue about the story line. As for Fantasmic its more of Mickey and his Villians not the cartoons. Only the boat scene in the end has everyone that dosent count

They NEED to put in a new Mr. Toad! I know it doesn't look as good as pooh on a lunchbox but hey, it was a great ride! They owe us a Toad!

Ah, another Toady fan..,yes, I know they do, but lets face it there not..sorry

As well, as for this future use we're gonna wait to find out in a couple of months. I think a Robin Hood ride would be awesome though, cause my name is Sir Hiss.. :D

I think a Robin Hood ride would be killer or the Great Mouse Detective as those are two of my favorite Disney movies. I hope they do more to this area then leave it as meet and greet for another ten years. Disney has so many characters they haven't used in the parks such as RH and Great Mouse Detective that it would be a shame that an awesome ride like 20k was replaced only by a garden/meet and greet.

Mary Poppins would be an excelent replacement for 20k! :sohappy: Just think, fantastic AAs, special effects, the works! That would be the most logical thing to replace it with.

Harry Potter? Nah, it would be loads better in MGM. It has nothing to do with any Disney movies even though it has to do with magic.

I just dont think Mary Poppins has mass appeal anymore. Kids now a days dont love that movie. They like Harry Potter. I am not saying I like Harry but kids do.

I was chatting with Jrash about Poppins last night; kids still watch it (at least all the kids I know have seen it!).

And if you are a parent out there who hasn't shown your kids Poppins, you better do it... NOW! :D There is a re-release later this year.

(And I still think it would get HUGE attendance if rereleased in theaters).

I totally agree. My 9 year old sister still watches it ALL THE TIME :)

Thanks for the info about the re-release!! I have it on video but it's in bad shape from being watched too much.

Loving all the ideas in this thread. General Grizz, I'm WAY impressed with your Poppins land.

I think Mary Poppins has more widespread appeal then some of you give it credit for. When they rerelease this movie and it flies off the shelves, maybe that will ring their bell. I already have it though on VHS, I'll be thrilled to get the movie on DVD.

No on is saying that Mary Poppins isn't a great film. It's one of my favorites from growing up. The question is what kind of ride could it be that could make people want to stand in line for 2 and 3 hours because that is what Fantasy land is all about.

By the way, the sub in the photo...not there anymore.
There is one out there in the lagoon, but the top part with the eyes, etc. is gone. The only thing above the water is the tail. Looks bad.

Where is this?

Thanks,
Mike

I think you could easily use Mary Poppins to create an E-ticket ride.
How about a dark-ride-spectacular journey through the film?

You could enter through a recreation of Cherrytree Lane, pop through a holographic chalk pavement picture into the Jolly Holiday. The ride vehicle could be a next-generation Omnimover that rolls on a Indiana Jones platform. You could speed up or slowdown that way, as well as add motion effects. Imagine joining the fox-hunt and horse race!

For the climax you could wonder accross the roof tops of London to Chim-Chim, then wind-up in the midst of the fireworks-battle before popping back into the Banks' house. For a merchandise tie-in they could have a kite-shop at the exit.
