I know it's all rehearsed or canned, but I think Josh D's pretty authentic with his love for Disney. Unless something really goes wrong, I feel like we're in good hands.

It does appear that Josh really likes his job and the Disney culture. Compare this to Bob C who always appeared to be constipated, LOL.

This will be a very controversial thing to say here, but I do think Iger deserves credit for steering Disney toward being one of the few survivors of the traditional studios of the 20th century. Considering that when he took over it was a target of hostile takeover bids or speculation about being taken over by Yahoo, Disney has navigated a very complicated period in most of its core businesses relatively well. Even the relatively seamless evolution of the variety of entertainment that can be marketed under the Disney brand over the past few decades is pretty incredible.

That obviously doesn't mean he will be remembered as a Steve Jobs-esque figure or that he was great for the parks. But, if he has done nothing remarkable, then god help the rest of us!

I have no idea if Iger is satisfied with his personal status or not, but that seems a little harsh and suggests most if not all of us on here should be profoundly depressed.

Got back from a trip recently and to my mind there was a palpable difference in cast member interaction. Not that it was bad before - I think it suffered post Covid but steadily improved from there. But there was just a different level of friendliness that was surprisingly nuanced from often very young CMs. Like not over the top but very genuine, unobtrusive and kind. I feel like D’Amaro activated his Disney hive mind and was like “CMs! Unite!” lol.

It could be total coincidence, of course, but I do wonder if part of it is top down leadership effects rippling through the company.

Iger would have been quite good in certain positions at certain companies or maybe even government positions, However, CEO of a creative company like Disney was not a position he was ideally suited for as far as I am concerned.

Iger accomplished growth in their marketplace…that can’t be argued.

Are they in a better position strategically moving forward? That’s a tougher question. His last 10 years featured a lot of creative rot and missteps that can’t yet he quantified in the rear view mirror by the jury

My sense is the “he gets it…” narrative has been heavily ginned up…which does have value on the ground in parks. For awhile
Obviously the last five years have been stagnant for the rank and file…not exceptionally aspirational. When those troughs in morale happen…the general want is to have something to pump to pull out of it. Iger leaving is an obvious opening to that.

Disney is doing A LOT of work at WDW (THANKS EPIC!) but all this stuff was already in the works before Josh became the boss.

In my opinion, all the current work aside, there will be no WOW decision Josh will make. In my opinion, Josh just wants to ride this CEO ship; make no waves, let all the teams below him do what they do (like deleting the gingerbread house at the GF)

Iger started off well enough, and deserves credit for his growth of the movie side. It’s the back half of his tenure that really soured me, at least as far as management of the parks is concerned
