It is great to see old Barney looking so good. I was always at Seaside Heights when it was still asleep. First nice Sunday of Spring, after church, Dad would get us all in the car, and we would drive over and walk on the boardwalk. I could watch the taffy pulling machines for hours. If we behaved, we were allowed to bring some home.

I'm glad my photos stirred up some nice memories for you :)

Oh my gosh...so many memories at these places!!! I know I've mentioned it before, but when growing up, we had a house down the shore in the Green Island section of Toms River. Point Pleasant and Seaside were "our" boardwalks. I saw Barnegat Lighthouse every time we took the boat out of the Barnegat inlet or if we went down to the end of Island Beach State Park. Seeing Seaside's Casino Pier and the water park brings back a lot of high school memories. There were so many times as a younger kid where I wished I could have swam to Point Pleasant beach every time we went out of Manasquan Inlet. Also pretty sure I've been on that merry-go-round in Pt Pleasant...or at least watched my brother on there when he was younger. Even my mom's home town of Keyport made that map. LOVE THIS!!!

Maybe I was the Merry Go Round Ride operator when you were there. I did boardwalk rides from 1978 - 1998.

It's entirely possible! We frequented that area from about 1980-1991, so you never know. My older one was still an infant when we took her up there, but her first (and only, so far) NJ boardwalk was Point Pleasant (but that was 2007). I totally understand as well. Some of my childhood summer friends from Toms River worked a popcorn stand on the Casino Pier area in Seaside Heights for quite a few years. It was a good summer job.

My gosh, you're breaking my heart. It seems like just yesterday I was at the shore, but our trip was the last week of June. We've been going to Wildwood Crest for 27 years now. We love it. Love the beach and the boardwalk in Wildwood. Macks Pizza, Curley Fries, and Kohr's soft serve ice cream. We bought a dozen Macks pies during out June stay. That doesn't include the two I bought to bring home.
Watch the tram car please !

That's south of me .... but I am glad you enjoyed your visit to Wildwood Crest....(it would take me an hour or slightly more to get there)

I saw an online article today that focused on how Shore towns do NOT want folks who own a summer (2nd) home to come. Stay in your primary winter residence! That's the message people wanted to get across. Hopefully by Father's Day or 4th of July at the very latest, they'll sing a different tune. Stay well everybody!

Ahh, Steve...you're bringing back memories for me too!!! I started going with my parents, Aunt and Uncle to Seaside Park in 1971...now we live down here in Toms River...the boardwalk, BOTH ends before Sandy and the fire, riding the go-karts and using a whole book of tickets on that ONE ride, AND teaching my 2 daughters how to drive on those karts, the Caboose diner (an actual caboose), cheese steaks, sausage sandwiches, zeppolis, mini-golf, renting Schwinn bikes at Rossi's in the "Park", crabbing off the docks, arcades, the wheel stands with records, rock band mirrors and other tchotchkes, (back when they were only a quarter to play), some new band called Bon Jovi performing "Runaway" on the bandstand of the boards (and using the pix on their album cover) and SSSOOO much more!! I only hope that we'll have the opportunity to walk the boards again this summer...THANKS!!

My wife's grandfather had a house on the Jersey shore (on the beach) in Surfside. When we were first dating I remember going there. Years passed and her grandfather passed away and was going to leave it to her mom. Found out my wife's mom didn't want it as she was living in Florida so the grandfather left it to one of the sons (drunk) The house was on a double lot --he sold that off and then sold the house. My wife was heart broken as all the cousins would spend the summers there. Beautiful part of Jersey
