Trip Report JenniferS was live! 9/6/17 - 9/16/17

This will be my fourth live trip report in a year, and after NYC last week, I thought Hubby had reached his limit, but he says, "No, go ahead, do a live trip report. It lets me control the tv while you talk to your friends." (As we meet more of my WDWDisney friends, he uses finger quotes around "friends" less and less.)

So, here we go, another live trip report. I really don't have the will to do a post trip report, so it's "live" or nothing. Once I'm out of the bubble, I'm out.

Introductions.
IMG_2660.JPG

That would be me, Jennifer, on the left. Big Disney fan, big Blue Jays fan, big Hubby fan. Ace, in the middle - although he will always be BJ Birdie to me. Hubby, Mike, on the right. Although Mike is the one who first introduced me to Disney in 1991, it's not really his thing. He goes with me most years to make me happy. And also for the food.

As with our past three trips, we will be spending 11 days, 10 nights at Coronado Springs Resort. We booked a BounceBack offer before checking out last year, before knowing how much construction would be going on. Oh well, it is what it is. And what it is, is my favourite resort in my Happy Place; so it's all good.

We have a Preferred King room booked, which means Casitas 1, 2, or 3. Nonetheless, I think I will be sending in a room preference fax tomorrow asking for a refurbed King room in either 7A or 8A. I'll be happy either way. I am ridiculously easy to please whilst in WDW.

Yes, I am one of those Free Dining parasites. By booking the BB offer last year, we are actually getting the full DDP for free, instead of having to upgrade from QDP. I put great thought and effort into our ADR's. Mike is a big guy and eats a lot. The heat and humidity really kills my appetite, so Mike eats at least half of my meals too. (I've recently packed on 20 pounds, so that may be a good thing.)

Next up, our somewhat loosey goosey itinerary.

Bad feeling update - not a loose crown. An abscess under the crown, requiring a re-treatment of a six year old root canal. The fun begins at 2:15 tomorrow. In the meantime, I am in a-go-ny. Ugh!
{{HUGS}} good luck and I hope they give you some decent meds to deal with it

1. It's really cool to realize that many cultures do the same thing, even though separated by thousands of miles. I'm of Irish heritage (ok, first generation American) and my family are bone-scrapers. :D But only when it's just us. We behave when "dining out". Which explains why we eat home so often. ;)

That really is such a cool thing. Also, last night, I took some entrees back to the room with me from Sassagoula's and picked clean my fried chicken. And then I wished I was at my "real" home, where I could have thrown the bones into my "corpse wagon" freezer bag to make chicken stock with later on. I also wish we could request a microwave for our rooms.

I hate to break it to you, but no one in Ireland actually eats any of this.

If you were designing a F&W booth for Ireland, would you put in it?

Have you asked for a microwave? I've had one at BC. Maybe not all resorts have them available? I have also borrowed a DVD player at Boardwalk.

Good luck with that!! My boyfriend just had a re-treat done earlier this year. Until then I had never heard of a re-treat of a root canal. He was much better after he had it done. I hope it goes that way for you!!

You can do a retreat. I've had three on one tooth. Hope your procedure goes much better (and cheaper) than mine!

No chance of that. After the third attempt, they said they tooth had to come out. So... It was removed and I now have a very expensive implant!
Well, I guess the bright side is you know for a fact that the tooth can't give you any more trouble but wow--to go through all that and end up having it removed. Bummer. And to think of the expense also.....

My sort-of-Ex-wife is going through the same root canal problems. She had major pain on Sunday, had an appointment with her dentist Monday and saw a specialist yesterday. Previous root canal with a crown over it is infected. She was told re-treatment was only 75% likely to work and would cost $1750. An implant would be better but costs ~$4000. My dental plans won't cover an implant and she doesn't have $4K, so re-treat it is (free with my plans).

And the first crown they put on the implant broke after only two years so I had to pay the whole amount for another one since the insurance company refused to partially pay for another one on the same tooth! We switched dentist after that fiasco. Bright note to whole saga... I thought we wouldn't do a Disney trip that year because of all the dental bills, but my awesome husband said that we were still going since I had to put up with all that!

Well, that certainly sucks! I had similar procedure several years ago on a rear lower molar. The dentist said I had infection under an old gold crown. He takes off the old crown, re-treats the tooth and puts on a new porcelain crown. Six months later I bite down on something and break the new crown. I have to go back to the dentist and argue with him about why I want another gold crown, not porcelain. He finally agrees, but asks if I'd go 50/50 on the upcharge for the gold (which at the time was $300.00). I figured if I didn't pop for my $150.00 he'd get it all back from me somehow (wink, wink) later on down the road. So far, so good! Hope all goes well with yours!

And yes, Teacups.

And that's it, last post until we get back to the room. I'm down to 6% battery.

Ugh. TeaCups. I'm impressed! Been off the to do list of mine for years. :hungover:

TeaCups on that Never Again Disney Attraction list along with Mission Space, Primeval Whirl, Rockin and Astro Orbitor. Likely coming as an addition to that list soon will be Everest, just makes my brain slosh like Rockin does now too.

We didn't "do" teacups; we just walked by. :hilarious:

Did you try the new Mission:Space Green?
Definitely easier on the tummy and brain.

I used to ride Primeval Hurl with the kids. Now that we're not toting them along, there is no need to spend any time in Dinorama. Two thumbs down.

I actually like Astro Orbitor. But for Universal's One Fish, Two Fish, AO is the best spinner in Orlando.

The backwards part of EE messes with my head. Twice in a row is my limit. I like RnRC. A lot!

What did you think of Flight of Passage? That was pretty intense for me. We did it twice in one day. That was enough. Going forward, I think twice in one trip will be enough.

Oh funny. I missed your skipped Tea Cups. Kudos.

Astro for me is more a height thing than a spin thing. The illusion of no ground beneath. I have a weird fear of some height things that I know is not rational but all the same it is there. The concrete disappears on Astro, I know it is there but still...Primeval is just a nasty attraction by Disney standards for me. A poor choice as an attempt for a quick fix for AK poorly executed IMO. Two cast members have died supporting that attraction. 2 too many.

I was brain sloshy for the rest of the day after my last Mission many many years ago and I am very claustrophobic so Mission isn't likely in the cards for me and none of my family likes it so it is a pass. The same sloshy feeling is now on Rockin and most recently on Everest. As much as I enjoy them and I really love them it isn't worth the brain warp at my age I am feeling. My DD thinks she is now done with Everest too at 25 years old, she too gave up on Rockin because of the brain slosh. Shame cause we really did enjoy them but not worth the oogy feeling the balance of the day from a few of these attractions. Everest seems to effect many, likely why the lines are pretty short most of the time. Shame cause it is awesome.

I had zip problems with Flight. I was nervous cause Star Tours messes with me somewhat but Soarin does not. Nor did Body Wars years ago. We had ate the hour before Flight so that added to my pre angst. But I genuinely loved it. We had a malfunction so we had to do the pre show twice before our experience. I wish we could have road it again this trip without the wonders of how we would fare, but we lost our second FP+ to Irma Lockdown and we were not about to stand in line for ever and a day to have at it again. I wasn't overly impressed with the River Journey it was lacking cohesiveness. Pretty, still no real story and too many repeats of visuals. Nice but won't be a must do in the future. We didn't have a FP+ for it but it was 15 20 minutes thank you Irma and early September combo. We did return with a banshee and perch. *hangs head* It wasn't from my wallet though.

And I so agree. Islands is a winner for kids and adult kids. I love the land as did my kids back then. Hands down their kiddo area is spot on and I love the Fishy Spinner. My school board now stays at Uni vs Disney and while I was at meetings they fell in love with Uni, we stay at the Portifino and I challenge any Disney onsite resort to claim to be better than equal to that resort. They have come a long way. We were to spend two days at Uni, one at the parks and one at Volcano. We opted not to this trip because of the two days we forfeited to Irma. I walked away from Irma after days of thinking, we did so much more because of Irma coming and going those two lost day really were an odd blessing to us as a family. Day two was boring as could be but the crowd levels being so low because of her and the time of year annually...it certainly worked in our favor, we walked onto the majority for the week and a half we were there. Awesome time to be at Disney. No regrets for not rescheduling our trip. We never felt unsafe.

FP for BTMRR, but first we'll give this 15 minute stand-by line a whirl.

Pictures are a compilation of our back to back rides, so the order may not make sense.

Just re-read my trip report today and got to these quotes. Tooth update ....

Turns out there was a broken file in one of the canals, which is fairly common. Whether or not they present a problem depends on how far into the procedure the tip broke.

Anyway, the specialist made three separate re-treatment attempts, each in the two hour range. Finally, in December, just before Christmas, we went the surgery route, and I ended up having an apicoectomy.

Final affront was paying my regular dentist $175 additional dollars to have a permanent filling done in January. Dude, it was your broken file that caused all of this agony and expense, the least you could have done was fill the crown for free. (FYI, I had complained from Day 1 that the root canal/crown was “irksome”. He said to let him know when we went from “irksome” to “painful”.)

Long story short, all is well. If memory serves, I had a total of 8 x-rays, and out of pocket expenses in the $1800 range, but yay! the pain is gone, and the tooth is still intact.

One more appointment with the specialist in June to ensure that the bone he had to drill through has regenerated properly. If I press on the spot where he drilled, it still hurts in a bruised kind of way. That being said, there in no good reason to be pressing on my face that way, so I don’t.

Catch y’all in 24 weeks! Back to Coronado Springs, after all.

I'm glad you're not in pain anymore but that sounds like it was quite an orderal--I don't know what's worse all your time, aggravation, pain or the expense......
