That was Disneyland's slogan back in the late 1970's, but this little video from our favorite lady blogger reminded me of that.

A perfect spring day in SoCal. Sunny, 72 degrees, light breeze. The pearly band in front of the Castle, with happy visitors just sort of milling about and enjoying the park. And then out comes Mary Poppins and Bert for a song and a dance. This sort of little thing in front of the Castle could only happen at Disneyland.

I remember the first time i experienced one of these very same appearances.
It was such a NICE surprise, as it just seemed to happen all of a sudden and un-announced.
A special little 'magical moment' just for those who happen to be hanging around a particular area at the time.
Disneyland is full of things like that...and it truly adds a LOT to the overall Park experience.
Things like this is what makes DLR #1 in my opinion.


As i stood there mere feet away from these two and the band playing with a couple dozen onlookers, two thoughts entered my head as i enjoyed the performances -

There is NO WAY in Hades they would ever be able to do this out in the open at 'that other Disney Park' on the 'other Coast' without miles of rope holding onlookers back and twenty CM escorts or security folks watching over the crowd.

...and....

How nicely the audience is behaving, standing here at a respectful distance quietly enjoying the show...without trampling each other or the performers, or crowding around like a herd of lustful gazelles.


I am so glad i learned to choose Disneyland over WDW.

Except someone might have the same experience in Marvel land. I just returned from a couple day trip to Disneyland with my sister and nephew. He is autistic and way into Marvel. The experiences he had with the Marvel characters at DCA was incredible to say the least. After one of the Guardians dance off, he talked to Peter Quill (Starlord) while he was moving through the audience to leave. This guy engaged with my nephew asked him questions on his Marvel pins and gave him a wonderful experience that almost put my sister to tears.

Except I don’t care about the experiences of others in what will be Marvel Land. At all.
