It’s Raining Pixie Dust!! Full Trip report 9/3-9/10

Don’t be sad that it is over- be glad that it happened!

The cast - for those that didn’t read my pre-trip report, or my pitiful attempt at a live one.

Me- Disneyshe
My husband DisneyB

This was our second ever trip without either of the kids.

We always have loved to go to WDW on our anniversary but this was the only trip we were by ourselves. Our actual anniversary was a few days before we left but this was still our Anniversary trip. We have been married 26 years this year!

We booked a standard room at Coronado Springs with free dining-

We headed out around 8:30 pm on September 2, because I am a horrible rider. Seriously am probably worse than a 2 year old. I just hate being in a car and always have. It makes it much easier on not just me but also my husband because he doesn’t have to hear me complain for 8 hours. He sleeps during the day on the day we leave and I at night so we can go straight at it when we get there.

We usually get there right as the sun is coming up but we got there a little early. I had ridden down in pj bottoms, no makeup etc. because I was going to try and sleep. (Which I did, almost the whole way, a first for me) Anyway I was so hoping there was a room ready because I looked like I slept in a car for sure. I stayed in the car while hubby went to see if we could check in- I had told him any section I did not care, if one was available. So he calls and tells me that they have a King Preferred room in Casitas 1, I of course, said take it.

We had never stayed in the Casitas before because we liked the Cabana area so much and usually requested it. So we drive around and go to our room on the second floor. Scan the band and walk in...... to a Living room!

I had looked at the rooms many times, we would have chosen there over Old Key West last year but it wasn’t available with the free dining and a 1 br Villa was a good bit cheaper anyway.

I wish there could have been a hidden camera or something because I thought we had went into the wrong room number. I even said this isn’t right, how could our bands have opened this door. The TVs were on too, and it just threw me even more. I tipped toed around to the bed area, hand over my mouth almost afraid someone was going to yell at me for being in their room. Looked again at the room number on the map- then flat out started bawling!! This was our room!!! We have gotten upgraded from standard view to waterview before but this was nuts. Disney B said no wonder the lady that had checked us in was grinning so big. I don’t know if it was Anniversary pixie dust or luck being so early, or just a really special CM but the trip was off to an amazing start and I will never forget how awesome it felt to stand there in a room that nice that we were basically gifted with. I was and will always be so thankful for the enormous sprinkling of Pixie Dust!

The room-rooms are huge! It was so nice to have 2 bathrooms no waiting while one showers gets ready. I loved that!

See those happy smiling faces kicked back on our couch?? :)

It was still so early so I showered and got ready to head to DHS!

I love seeing your Food & Wine pics. It helps me to decide what to get when I go!!

Thank you! Many more to come. I am going to say go early! It is hot as can be, but the night crowds even say at 7- are rowdy. I had several drinks but I can handle it. Some of the people walking around were totally polluted. I definitely would not take any kids there at night during it. 😑

Following along! Love that it was a pixie-dusted trip for you :inlove: The room upgrade sounds awesome!
Thank you for following and it really was an amazing trip all the way around, one of the best ever. The upgrade was so unexpected, and wonderful. I literally cried for like 5 straight minutes. (A good cry though)

What a fantastic way to start your trip off with such a nice surprise!
Thank you it was amazing!

Great....our plan was first half of the day at AK then the second half at Epcot. And J will be with us....

I would switch it around if you can. There were a lot of just really obnoxious people that should have definitely either had fewer drinks, ate more or both. We left, both days, that we did Cape May for dinner rather than staying for Illuminations. Animal Kingdom crowds were slower at night probably due to F & W too. If you can’t just be prepared and keep him close to you and be prepared to cover ears. (I heard words that adults shouldn’t hear, much less kids) 😞

Off to Cape May Cafe! I love walking through the back gate to the Boardwalk area. I really do need to stay there one day. Maybe in a couple of months with the AP discount. ;)

Amazing as always! We are seafood lovers! Nothing for us to have 10lbs of crab legs plus about 5 lbs of Shrimp at home or if it is just Crab legs, the 4 of us can knock out 15 pounds no problem.. Both of our kids could crack crab legs like a pro by age 5. 😬

They have taken the buckets off the buffet for the legs. I actually agree with that because so many people loaded down then did not eat them. This girl or the hubby is never going to waste a Crab Leg.

Walked back in the back gate to a very rowdy, and obnoxious F & W crowd. No way we were staying for Illuminations. Back to the resort, to explore a bit.

This is where I have to give some Coronado love, and not because of the upgrade. I don’t think I will want to stay at the Tower, but I still love this resort so much. I think the other areas will stay somewhat remote. The new rooms look amazing. The floors are vinyl, clean and quiet. This is still one of my favorite resorts.

Thanks for the heads up. The other thing is we are going on a Friday so I'm sure it will be more crowded b/c it's a weekend. Our FP's are for AK. I should see if I can switch them around but since it's a week from today I don't know how successful I will be!!

Today was Animal Kingdom day! When we got there the parking lot looked crowded but that was because they were parking people in the back lots. It wasn’t crowded at all when we made it in.

We headed straight for EE figuring everybody else was in Pandora. We rode EE 3 times I think walk-on, then used the Fastpass even though we did not need to.
Yeti faces!!

I am a character girl and this had long been at the top of my rare list! When I sent them to my son, he informed me that we could no longer be friends anymore. Ducktales and Goof Troop were his favorite shows and I have now met both Max & Launchpad without him. :(

We had met Scrooge at the Christmas Party in 2009 but of course I wanted to again. Plus, it is a new look than before.

Next up Daisy! I always forget how tiny she is. Hubby being the southern charmer he is, said Daisy! You are looking beautiful like always. She loved that. Motion to me the okay sign and I said ya, he is a keeper isn’t he. So cute she was great.

One more with Miss Daisy before moving on to my favorite characters.

Okay, so I love me some Chip N’ Dale! They have always been my favorite even above the Mouse himself. (Don’t tell him though) I especially adore Dale. Anyway we had planned to do a Garden Grill just to eat with them because I am not a fan of the food there. We canceled it after I got my Chipmunk love at AK.

Passed Launchpad again, then off to Flame Tree for some grub.
It is funny because after doing these meet and greets, I asked if he thought he wouldn’t have to do characters anymore once the kids grew up... to which he replied are you kidding me I knew we would do more. I love him, he gets me. 😍

We still had some time to kill before the Safari so I wanted to head to Dawa Bar to get A Harambe Cooler from Bob. The first alcoholic beverage I ever had at Walt Disney World was from Dawa Bar and I have to stop for one or 2 every trip. I don’t ever remember Bob not being there either. Always enjoy chatting with him each year. I love the music and atmosphere here too. It always says you are at Disney to me. We always watched the Parade here too and I always look at our spot and think how much I miss that parade.

We had to basically jog through the line, or lack thereof.

Still had some time to kill before KS so we headed to Maharajah Junkle Trek

Years ago, we started a tradition that I always took a picture of my son by the Tiger sign. There were some very pouty ones during the mid teens, but here is a grinning one from 2015.

The baby tigers were not yet out last year so I was excited to see them even if baby is not quite the word for them now. I think one was Mom but I don’t know which. Tigers are so beautiful! The top one was Dad.

I generally avoid buffets. In fact for all the times we stayed at the BC/YC we've never eaten at Cape May. Your post has me considering changing my mind, plus Val is a big fan of crab legs.

Love your Hubby's AK shirt! As far as the father/son photos - looks like the same guy to me!

Your trip looks awesome so far. I’ve been told that the time you went it one of the better times to have reduced crowds. Im thinking of trying it and also maybe Coronado for the first time.

You HAVE to try it! Not only are the crab legs amazing, they are very quick to keep bringing them out and they are not over steamed so they taste like heaven. Everything there is so good and fresh.

And yes, my son looks just like his daddy minus the gray (yet) and he has almost 5 inches on him in height! He is almost 6’5. He missed it by an 1/8 of an inch. I always tell him that as long as I was in labor with him (4 days) he could at least look a little bit like me! 😂

We have been going since 2007 in late August and September and this was one of the slowest years in a long time. I love Coronado and would recommend it to anyone!
