Not only is the selection in MDE bad, but it’s not much better on Disney Store.com either. Are they having supply issues or are they just not going to carry many?

There is currently a global computer chip shortage due to COVID which is affecting supply of a wide spectrum of products. This is also likely affecting what MagicBands are currently available.
I thought that might why.

Um, no. That's not going to happen. As long as Disney can make money off them, they'll continue charging. If it gets to the point that there is no longer demand for MBs because everyone is using MagicMobile, they'll stop offering them altogether. Why spend money manufacturing them if no one is buying?
