Is the Christmas Party worth it?

I'm floating this question out there, please let's not get emotional, but try to be realistic.

Is the Christmas Party worth the approximately $200.00 per person?

At one time Disney said that they limited the number of guests at the party to make going on rides easier. The last time we went, 2023, I am convinced that they do not do this anymore, or if they do they have increased the number of guests to a point where it is crowded.

Also, you cannot use Genie Plus / Lightning Lanes (or whatever name it's called now (i'd call it the Money grab, but that's just me)) during the party.

So basically, you get a parade and a firework show for your $200.00. Let's face it, no one goes alone to the party, so at minimum, it's 2 people or $400.00

Also, during covid, they party had free ice cream sandwiches, fruit bars, soda, and popcorn. Now they have returned to hot chocolate (how much can you drink of it) and really cheap cookies.

Your thoughts.....

I definitely think it’s worth it but only if you’re not stressing about cost. We’ve gone to two Halloween parties and enjoyed them, so we’re really excited to try the Christmas party this year!

My comment was based on the negative statements in his post. If you think it’s going to be crowded, the offerings are insufficient and it’s $200 for a nothing more than a parade and fireworks show, why ask anyone else’s opinion?

Look at how much you spend in life in general, it’s an experience , and a good one , just do it, we are from the uk, coming over for DCL and stay, we just miss the first Christmas party by 3 days, and we’re gutted, we would definitely be do it otherwise. There fun , I’ve only seen the Christmas parade on you tube, but to be there 😍, go for it !!

Its worth it if you are going to enjoy it enough and stay long enough. The added parts of the Christmas party delivers a lot, but you need to access everything. Its value has slipped from years ago, and IF I had the option I'd rather go MNSSHP, but it still has enough to be enjoyed. For someone who never did it, they should do it once for the experience. If youve done it before then it comes down to available funds, how much use you will get out of the rides, characters, parade, fireworks, stage shows. Crowds do start out heavy but they dwindle down as the hours go by. You will get more ride times towards the later hours.

We’ve done it 4 times…twice with the girls and twice my DW & I…yup it’s overpriced and yup, you don’t get what you used to, but it’s Christmas, it’s Disney and it’s magical!! We’ve also done the Halloween party too, they’re both awesome but if I had to make a choice, Christmas is it!

As someone doing the Christmas party for the first time this November, this is great to hear! We usually go in October and hit MNSSHP, but have pushed our trip on a month this year to do something different.

You seem like you're trying to talk yourself into going, so If you have and extra $400+ laying around that you otherwise would have set on fire, then go for it. There's nothing special about it anymore. It's just another standardized and regimented product offering.

Nope, trying to understand (other than going once) what warrants the $200.00 per person entrance fee.

Funny enough, lol, during Covid when WDW needed guests, they gave our unlimited ice cream, water, soda, popcorn for the same party.

As soon as Covid no longer became a talking point, they removed those snacks.

My point, as genius as it is, is that for $200.00 a person, why not keep the ice cream and snacks, or are they so driven by the mighty dollar.....All Hail to the Mighty Dollar.

I like to think that Walt would be disappointed

Disney parks customers…especially wdw ones…became lemmings to a large extent these last 10 years…

Kept buying things no matter the price. Like teenagers chasing a boy band. It became the desire to be “in the club” more than value or recreation

The holiday events became that. Prices up 300-400% - I’m not kidding - in the last 12 or so years

Well what has happened as the cost of normal life has skyrocketed is the music has stopped these last couple of years…

And now there’s an unsaid pit in the stomach instinct within Disney fans starting to set in: “what have we done?”

You don’t use your brain…we all lose

I don’t blame Disney and their low talent management…they will do what they are allowed to do unchecked

It doesn't seem like your trying very hard to understand anything.

What warrants $200.00 per person....thats what people are willing to pay. That's the only thing that warrants the price of something, what are people willing to pay for it, and these parties sell out every time. In fact, according to your bias first write up you said that the crowds seem to be higher than they were in the past. So despite raising prices, MORE people are going. So what is it that is hard to understand about the price?

As to the second point, during covid they weren't having xmas or Halloween parties. They were doing after hour events, which have different offerings than Christmas or Halloween parties.

Which leads it all back to you not having any understanding on how prices are set. You have people willing to buy what WDW is offering for $200. In fact according to you the place is TOO crowded meaning you have too many people who think that the $200 is worth what they are getting. And your idea is now to have WDW spend more money for no economic reason...because your too cheap to buy your own mickey bar?

Is anything we pay for in WDW worth what we paid. No. Its over priced.

Having said that, if you have never gone to a Christmas party, everyone should experience it at least once.

One of my tips is if you decide to go to a party, DO NOT use one of your day tickets that day.

If I remember correctly, you can enter at (4PM?) with your ticket and get plenty of time in the park.
