is Pop century still giving free upgrades..

In the past few months I was aware that a number of people were getting free upgrades having booked at Pop Century.. its this still going on ? we will be arriving in a few weeks.. should you pre check in or should you do it at the desk.. thanks for all your help in the past..

WDW gives free upgrades when it suits them. You shouldn't expect one.

There isn't any pattern that I have noticed. I have not had any recently, or ever at Pop that I recall, but I have had them happen with both online check-in and also (a bit older) when I did not do online check-in, so I don't think that makes any difference.

I got upgraded to preferred room last 2 times. But I wonder if it’s because of the refurbishments going on. I booked standard and I did online check in both times.

I don’t know what the difference between standard and preferred is for POP, but if it changes the building, then they were probably trying to “clump” together rooms to make it easier on housekeeping. That’s what happens to me at AKL a lot.

The difference is location. Preferred rooms are in buildings closer to the main pool and main building and transportation. Like 60’s section is between main building annd skylines. That’s a preferred building. And they cost more. But I think you’re right. That’s probably what they do, try to clump rooms together.
