Interesting E-Stop on Grand Fiesta Tour tonight

Again, after you exit that tunnel and before you come to the stage on the left - there is a staircase on your right. At the bottom of the stairs there is another IR beam, that if broken will stop the ride (cockroaches have a bad reputation for doing this).

Sigh...

I know this thread is about a e-stop, but all I can think about know is cockroaches. I hate them beyond belief. Here is a question (s) How big are those roaches that they break a laser beam or do they just pile up?

For some reason, I thought a place like Disney would NOT have roaches because of how clean the park seems to be.

Now I've got goosebumps.

i think you'd rather not know, or at least be better off. they won't come out with people around...or lights. remember, hakuna matata!!! :)

Ive had a few drinks in epcot at the english pub and it was pretty fun but i couldnt imagine drinkin so much that I would not be able to control myself on a ride. I mean whats the point of getting drunk at the parks anyways, cause no amount of alcohol could make IASW fun... :lookaroun

Here in south Georgia and Florida we often call 'em "palmetto bugs" and they're a little larger than you might find in most homes (and there are roaches in every home, no matter how clean they are). More fun when they fly by and land with a soft thud:) and even more fun when they crunch when you squish 'em:D

I live in Georgia, so I definately know what palmetto bugs are (shudders). If one gets into my house - you can hear me scream for miles until I kill the nasty thing. My cousin is in pest control and tells me horror stories all the time.

do you really think there are roaches in all houses? Now I'm really grossed out.

Roaches are the reasons I LOVE spiders!!

If there roaches in WDW then we need for them to start posting their food inspection scores (like restaurants in the real world).

sorry for the HUGE drift:o

That's unfortunate you had to deal with idiots like that.

I think as a punishment for doing something that will get you kicked out of Epcot while intoxicated, management should first make the drunk trouble maker or makers ride Mission Space - Orange, then proceed to eject them from the park.

Idunno, with the right buzz IASW might be quite funny. :ROFLOL:
...but I wouldn't wantt that kind of funny while at WDW anyway.

Are there any height I-Beams on any of the "boat" rides, so if people are standing, the ride stops? i have see a few people stand up for stupid reasons before, i just wondered if you stand up too long, the ride stops.

There are cameras everywhere so they can see you in the ride, even in the dark rides, they have special cameras or illuminators that allow them to see in the dark. So if a guest is standing up, they usually make a PA announcement to have that person sit down and if that person doesn't sit down, then they Ride stop or E-stop the ride. So they know who the person is and which boat or ride vehicle he was in, so when it comes up to unload, then there are people there to greet him, either management or security or both.

While that myth is interesting, there surprisingly far fewer cameras then most people would expect. In many attractions the CM's are at load and unload only and have no idea where you are or what you're doing once you're inside the ride and they -might- have intrusion mats, like Snow White now getting the mats for example.

Areas where the ride vehicles misbehaving leads to danger (boats backing up to the drop on Pirates for example) get cameras commonly, and watching the guest is not part of the equation, rather keeping track of the vehicles.

Btw, the only attraction I even know of that used IR-beams was the Universe of Energy and those were shut off for years because the curtains billowed when the hydraulic doors lowered into the ground and were constantly causing false E-stops of the system. They were not there to catch stray guests, but to prevent the doors from closing on the vehicles (which has happened.)

Obviously, you haven't been in many attraction control towers. Maybe you only see the CM's at load and unload but they are not the people who are watching all the monitors

Excuse you - i have been in several. Many attractions have no monitors watching guests.

This is ridiculous to argue but i've been in control towers. Test Track or a roller coaster is one thing, but many rides don't have any. Those dark rides you mention cover things like Snow White or Spaceship Earth and those don't have jack. Tell me where tower is in the Winnie the Pooh ride system if you really want to and you could try to point out where the cameras are installed.

Not all rides are the same.

thanks for the wonderful description of the "crunch". I happened to be eating a "crunchy honey oat cluster" from my cereal as I read lol. :p

Just thought I would share that with you lol.

That looks like a harmless Luna Moth. There are a lot of freaky creatures in Florida. We've seen cockroaches/beetle type things that you could throw a saddle on. I'm definitely not a fan, but most of the insects you'll see there are relatively harmless.

I'm glad to hear that I am not alone in my hatred of la cucarocha.

I'm not a bug phobe, just hate roaches of any variety.
