In what ways will COVID-19 change how you vacation at Disney?

I'm going--as long as the parks are open--Sept 20, 2020. I just talked to my dad about this and we are looking for the positives (because there are plenty of negatives)
We are looking forward to the enforced leisurely pace--the opportunity to seek out and enjoy the "hidden treasures" so often written about. We will listen to the party line at the Chapeau (although we've done this before), notice the flower beds, find hidden Mickeys, etc.
This trip we will stroll down Main Street instead of rushing to Space Mountain.
Limited food offerings will force us to try something different. (downside is 5 days of WDW hamburgers....)
Since there are no fireworks, and the parks have early closing, we will not feel compelled to push ourselves to the point of cranky exhaustion.
We are staying at Copper Creek and look forward to the opportunity to explore the resort in a way you cannot when you are a Park Commando.
It will be a different experience, to be sure, but ....a bad Day at Disney is better than a good day at home.

It really won't. I'm just waiting for the disease to burn itself out and we'll all be done with it.

We cancelled our April 2021 trip to the World since we are just not sure of the plans in place there. After pondering a third Adventures by Disney-Viva Italia, we decided against it as well. Instead we are going to do 9 days in Rome on our own in late summer 2021 (IF the ban on Americans is lifted). Disney planning is very difficult now in having to choose a park so far out. So many things factor into which park we visit on which day. There is still no guarantee that park hopping will be back in place next year. We will try a 'wait and see' for 2022.

Out of curiosity, why cancel so far in advance? If things start to improve, you might miss out on whatever dates you had planned. Disney's cancellation policy is very generous and you're nowhere near needing to book flights yet.

We had planned to participate in the Star Wars Dark side 10K during the week we were there. We have done this race in the past and are not sure how runDisney can plan on thousands of runners (even with interval starts) safely. All in all, our hearts were just not in the April '21 visit. We are habitual visitors and will certainly book at another time.
