In-Laws May Be Going Again!

My in-laws may be going to WDW at the same time as us this year again...but probably staying at another resort.
I love them dearly, but our past 2 trips together have not gone so well.
The first 3 days are usually fine.
I have booked all of our meals separately so that we can be sure to have some family time.
Maybe if we limit our time together to a few things it will be better this year.

Thats why you keep your significant other quiet. My mom has a track record when we go to disney. We no longer let her know when we go. Its actually house policy.:zipit:

I hear you on the family time. For the longest time we would always have someone tagging along on our trips. The first trip that was just the 4 of us...was the best trip ever. I agree that limiting your time with the in-laws will help in keeping tempers level. Good luck and enjoy the trip!!!

Hopefully they will stay at another resort. This should give you some time to yourselves. Can you book some special events for the two of them? Send them on a tour or book a signature meal for them. Then you are guaranteed some time away from them.

One good thing that we have going for us is that my mother-in-law does not like to ride many of the rides & we do...so this will give us some much needed family time.
I don't mind them going at the same time as us, it's just that my mother-in-law gets cranky about mid-trip.

What we've done is stagger the days we're there. For instance, if they go from Mon-Thursday we make sure to arrive Wed and stay until Sunday; just an example. That way you know for sure you'll ONLY be with them for two days.:D

You cannot tell me that its coincidence that they are going the same exact time that you are:lookaroun One of you two leaked the info. I think your screwed this trip but in the future say nothing. Theres been three occasions where my mother has interupted my trips (very long stories) and something that my wife will never forgive her for. Now my inlaws on the other hand are totally opposite and will be going with us in May with our 8month old for the first time. And it doesnt bother me one bit.

You have my sympathy. Last year my sister in-law and our son came with us to WDW so I know exactly how you feel. There were a couple of memorable incidents (mostly involving her being rude to hotel and restaurant staff) but i knew to expect that, its her way. From now on as others have said i suggest you book your trip without saying anything to them:).

My mother-in-law has that rudeness problem at times.

Oh I am sorry!! We are going this year with my mom and some other family but I am excited. We all get a long so great and everyone is really easy going and totally into Disney. But even with that we like to have a few things to ourself. They will be doing a day at the waterpark and we opted out. We also have a few dinner reservations without them. We also are not staying at the same place. On the plus side my mom is taking the kids one night overnight so DH and I can have a date night in Disney! Our first ever!!

Good luck! And like the idea to ditch on the first dark ride! J/k! :ROFLOL:

We always have a great time with my parents but I never could have imagined going with my former in-laws and now that they're my former in-laws I don't have to worry about it anymore!:ROFLOL:

Hopefully I can pass on some of my trip luck to you...all of the people who made parts of our trip difficult this last time around - who wanted to come on our upcoming trip - have work conflicts and can't come. So...here's hoping some of my luck rubs off on you :D
