The Jack Sparrow inclusion in POTC never bothered me. Two of his appearances are so subtle they could be easily missed. You hear his name a few times, and the final appearance was a plus to the ride, not replacing anything major for fans of the original. The theme and feel of the original still remains intact, imo. Barbossa's inclusion fits the pirate he replaced, if not better. It felt like just enough to give fans of the movie and the original attraction a quality ride to enjoy.
If HM ends up getting a movie tie-in that is no more distracting than that, I am OK with it. If they start talking Nightmare Before Christmas level overhaul like out west, I may die a little on the inside.
Unless I'm missing something, a part of the 2003 flop WAS included in the ride, unfortunately. If you recall, in Eddie's debacle of a movie (not his fault) they had a free-floating Leota bubble. They did incorporate that into the Mansion as I said, was very unfortunate. Prior to 2003, Leota was in a large crystal ball. The 2003 crap movie turned her crystal ball into a floating bubble for some reason. It's almost as if the writers of the movie didn't understand Leota was in a crystal ball. What the heck sense is there in a floating crystal ball flying through the Mansion??? In any case, that change was made in the Mansion after the movie.Obviously the 2003 Haunted Mansion film just would not have been a good addition.
By 'have done' you of course mean its immensely popular and done every year, and is a complete transformation of the attraction. They have done the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay in Disneyland though.
Who knows, I am thinking it going to totally depend on how popular the movie
is.
Can we be glad this wasn't peeking over HM.....
I agree with this. Jack is a much bigger part of the attraction than Nigel is letting on. I don't mind it as much as some tho. I was a big fan of the movies, and I like the character in general. That said, if they were to completely upgrade the attraction to something spectacular and removed Spara' in the process, I wouldn't be disappointed. The movies stand on their own, just as the ride once did. I'd love for them to upgrade and lengthen the ride, perhaps with a restaurant ride-past like in DL. Without seeing the Shanghai version in person, it looked pretty awesome on Youtube. I wouldn't mind seeing some upgrade like in that version. Not buying it, "Nigel". Actually we hear Jack Sparrow's name as often as Figment shows up to be a menace in the current version of Imagination - frequently. Everyone is looking for "Jack Sparrow". As soon as you come down the waterfall, the ship's captain is shouting his name. You hear it again and again around every scene he appears. It's annoying, frankly.

That's not really fair; she floats in the center of the room in one scene, where she starts on a table, and then everything else ( including the table, which stays a few inches beneath her) floats around her. It's also made pretty clear that spirits are doing the lifting. For the rest of the movie she's clearly not capable of floating, everyone else carries her around and it freaks her out.Unless I'm missing something, a part of the 2003 flop WAS included in the ride, unfortunately. I soooo wish they would've stuck with the del Toro vision for the movie. I had no idea the project was picked up again, and obviously didn't know they turned it into another comedy. What an awful idea. I'm not saying it should've been a slasher film with the Bride chopping off heads, but it has the bones for a fantastic supernatural thriller. The fact that it will be another comedy... my guess is it will s&ck hard.
That said, I can't see them incorporate any human characters ala Jack Spara'. I hope they don't invent any new goofy ghosts since it's gonna be a comedy, because we don't need them putting Slimer in the Mansion or any other bad ideas like that.
Not fair? I mean...... I don't want to be "unfair", but I'm not sure my suggestion that the first HM movie influenced the ride would be unfair. I'm just stating that after the movie which included a floating crystal ball (bubble), the ride was altered to include Leota in a floating bubble. Are you saying that it's an incredible coincidence that the ride was altered to have a floating bubble Leota after the movie showed Leota in a floating bubble instead of a crystal ball? Whew! That is the most amazing coincidence since I fell asleep last night with an extra pillow under my head, and then woke up with neck pain and an unbelievable headache. It's so weird how coincidentally every time I do that, my neck hurts and I get a headache, but so is the floating Leota bubble thing. Definitely no cause/effect there. That's not really fair; she floats in the center of the room in one scene, where she starts on a table, and then everything else ( including the table, which stays a few inches beneath her) floats around her. I'm not saying it was a good choice in either context, just that I don't think it's fair to blame the film on that ride change. Even if you'd argue that that single scene still counts and is the inspiration they should have been able to note the completely different contexts and tones and not copied one aspect of the scene.
It's not really fair because you stated blatantly false things about the movie. If you read the post, you'll see the whole point wasNot fair? I mean...... Sorry for the sarcasm. I just find it funny to suggest I was "not really fair" in this circumstance. Just stating what seems obvious I guess. Sorry if it seemed like some kind of an attack on something or someone.
Okay, first, you need to relax. This isn't something to get so angry about... seriously. If this is the worst thing you got going that makes you so angry, life must be fantastic. Yes, more sarcasm. Deal with it.It's not really fair because you stated blatantly false things about the movie. If you read the post, you'll see the whole point was
1. No, the movie doesn't just inexplicably make Leota into a floating orb, as you spent a paragraph ranting about and were clearly upset by. There's enough stuff to complain about in the movie without just making stuff up.
2. It's "not fair" to blame the movie for a change you don't like because whoever added it to the ride they complete removed all context that made it make sense and inserted it into a scene that's very different and that's on them, not the movie.
And I fail to see the point of saying "sorry for the sarcasm" while continuing to write and post said sarcasm.
Excuse you, I will supply my own, thread-appropriate bridge. Here's the bridge everyone needs to use to get over this. Move on.
