CoP will be replaced
Do you really think that CoP will be replaced? It's one of Walt's originals I would think they would keep that in mind when making such a decision.. well atleast let's HOPE they keep it in mind.

It really depends on how the hardware of the attraction holds up. I don't think they'd put the money into a complete redo of the mechanics of the attraction.

(Especially when you have the theater, CoP, and the old skyway station...that's a lot of prime real estate for something major!)

If they put in another amazing attraction that took up that space...(and I mean on par with Tower of Terror/Space Mountain/Haunted Mansion, etc)...I wouldn't mind seeing CoP leave the area (does that mean I want to see it go? Nope...maybe relocate it :D )

(Major nowadays = meet and greets and a huge shopping center! "THE MALL OF TOMORROW!")

oh, for the love of anything imaginative and fun, please please dont go another 20 years without refurbing the Star Tours film. Disney/Lucas, get off your (fill in blank) and get a new exciting film in there were you can see the little black marks on the screen from lint.

(side note) oh, and i dont think it is my imagination (thou, it is rather out there sometimes) but is the color fading in the film. is that possible. im about to pull the "i remember when", but i remember when it was in its first couple of years and then i see it in 2000 and it looked really faded. huh.

sorry, off the subject.

IMO, Here's what WON'T be here in 20 years.

The Enchanted Tiki Room_Under New Management
Carrousel of Progress
Timekeeper
Swiss Family Treehouse
Jungle Cruise
Frontierland Shootin Arcade
Legend of The Lion King
Country Bear Jamboree
The entire Wonders of Life Pavillion
Journey Into Your Imagination
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire-Play it
Sounds Dangerous
Indiana Jones Stage Show
Rafiki's Planet Watch
Tarzan Rocks
Festival of The Lion King

I hope I'm wrong about some of these.
I'm just judging by the lines on my last 3 trips :(

And I agree with you, with the assurance an updated version would be moved elsewhere around the Walt Disney World resort. . .

But it's funny you say this -- Disney was looking at this area (along with the Galaxy Palace) for a giant gift shop and small attraction. :lookaroun

Jungle Cruise

No chance they ever shutter the Jungle Cruise IMHO. It's a classic Disney Attraction. There'd have to be a pretty terrible accident for them to close it forever.

Some things should definitely change within the next 20 years. Things like 'The Land' *need* to be changed to show new techniques and technologies. It's past due for such a change, IMHO. It's basically the same stuff that was there when it opened 20 years ago.

I can only hope that the attractions I love so much, Peter Pan, Small World, Haunted Mansion, etc will be around in 20 years from now so my children can enjoy them as much as I did and still do!

In 20 years we will be lucky if any of the current attractions are around. I think some of the originals will probably still be there but they will most likely have something different about them.

In the year 2024

Haunted Mansion
Splash Mountain
Space Mountain
POC
Small World(it would survive a nuclear holocaust)
Peter Pan(big maybe here)
Pooh(that is if disney countinues to make a furtune off of him)
BTM(that is if they keep the deaths to a minimum)
nothing at Epcot(it is always subject to change)
TOT
RNR coaster(they might change who it features)

everything else is up for grabs

20 years is not that far off in the future. I believe most of them will still be around. Unless they choose to plow everything and start all over again. (Which I'm sure has been on Eisner's mind once or twice before.) BAD MAN! :fork:

Well think about disney 20 years ago and see just how many of those attractions are still with us? All of Epcot's originals were still in tact(mainly because the park was only 2 years old at the time) but they are all different now except for the living seas.

20 years ago MK still had

mission to mars
if you had wings
circlevision 360
mr. toad
20K leagues
snow white scary adventures(only slightly different but still different)
the tikki room(original)

Not too mention there was no

splash mountain
aladdin's magic carpets

And there was no DAK or MGM and River country was the main water park.

Sounds like a lot can happen in 20 yrs to me.

Oh yeah and the Hall of Presidents didn't have Clinton or eithe of the Bush's yet.lol

It's easier for me to look at what's gonna go.

I think it's easier for me to think along the lines of what will probably go, rather than what will/should stay.

1. Enchanted Tiki Room, I love the original show and tolerate the insulting new version, but I can't see the high ups giving this one a lot of love.
2. Big Thunder, if at some point the publicity becomes bad enough, I think it'll be changed into a completely different ride altogether.
3. Country Bear Jamboree, somehow... somewhere an idiot in Disney is targeting this classic. i feel it in my bones. It's a great show and would be a terrible loss to the world- and that is why it will happen.
4. Mission Space, enjoyable- would trade it for Horizons in a heartbeat. I think its technology will date itself like Body Wars.
5. Body Wars, I think this war is over.
6. Great Movie Ride, I think it needs to update- or it will perish. Maybe it will survive and get larger- perhaps the Greater Movie Ride.
7. World of Energy, Interesting show- the perverted Ellen stuff made it better- although the animatronic was terrifying. However, I think the depletion of fossil fuels will date this one within our lifetimes.
8. Hall of Presidents, I think that the work that goes into this wonderful show will prove to be too much to upkeep. I think that the show will change, and probably close if thinking gets a little too liberal.

Still, I like to be optimistic- I forsee a time when we can ride the original Imagination ride once more, perhaps resurected in some form for a permanent retrospective land somewhere. And perhaps- Epcot can be truly built.
