Does anyone know if Disney will add an additional illumination show when they extend the park hours? This would help with the crowds.
I am going to go with no. I am not sure they even can. @marni1971 would probably know how fast they could reload for a show.
You might be referring to the inferno barge burn-off they use to do.Didn't they once market Illuminations as "Epcot's Kiss Goodnight"?
Yes they can run multiple shows per night. They have done it on a number of occasions, including during EMH at Epcot back in 2007. One show was at 9, the second was at 11:30pm.I am going to go with no. I am not sure they even can. @marni1971 would probably know how fast they could reload for a show.
Do they do a reload or just bring out more barges?Yes they can run multiple shows per night. They have done it on a number of occasions, including during EMH at Epcot back in 2007. One show was at 9, the second was at 11:30pm.
However, it has not been done for regular days in recent times. They do run two shows per night routinely on New Years Eve.
To answer the original question, extremely unlikely you will see another Illuminations added on a regular day.
They don't have any additional barges to duplicate the show, so it is a case of loading multiple shows before hand, and also some reload in between the two shows.Do they do a reload or just bring out more barges?

So they have redundant mortar tubes for each shell?
they also did bring out the "WWIII" barges. They are seen at NYE, 4th of july, and i think the holiday season.Slightly off topic, but I was there for the 30th anniversary for EPCOT and the extra fireworks at the end were OVERWHELMING and completely awesome, but after reading this thread, it would make sense that they may have just done a "second show" of Illuminations in less than a minute, firing off what ever they could have had pre-loaded.

That would be known as the Inferno Barge Burnoff and it's pretty neat if you stick around long enough...

They refer to all the night time fireworks shows as their "kiss goodnight"
Magic Kingdom and DHS have real closing messages though that are their kiss goodnight. I've never been to DAK for closing so have no clue what they do there.
I've seen MK's - we stayed very late after closing once. What does DHS do?
Don't they have 4 small barges that they attach to the back of the maxi barges for special occasions? They don't have any additional barges to duplicate the show, so it is a case of loading multiple shows before hand, and also some reload in between the two shows.
