why did you choose that route? I can see they're a bit more expensive, but I'm wondering what they can do for you that an owner can't, if anything.

As an owner, we rented the points out using a broker because it easier for us. We have heard nightmare stories of renters who have walked out on charges and owners were charged and times when owners had issues collecting the fees - check bounces etc. So as owners we felt much more comfortable renting out points using a broker as he deals with all of the issues. Its worth the cost to use.

I think the big difference is safety. If you go through a broker with a reputation you know that you are going to be getting the reservation and there won't be that potential cancellation surprise. You pay a little extra by going through a business to get that extra security. However, most people who rent their points are honest people and are just looking to make some of their money back...thankfully you don't often hear of someone getting ripped off.
