My son will be hitting double digits on our next WDW trip. Looking for ideas for a fun birthday dinner with mom, dad, little sister and grandparents. Thanks!!!

What are some favorite foods of the birthday kid? My daughter is not so young anymore, but has loved dining at La Hacienda in Mexico since it opened. Food is tasty, decor is fun and if you time it right, you can watch illuminations from your table. Would he prefer a character meal, though?

When my DS was that age we took him to Cirque du Soleil and let him pick the restaurant for dinner, he chose the California Grill. We arranged for a birthday cake for dessert. A little girl at another table came over to ours, sang happy birthday and asked if she could have a piece of cake.
The Hoop-de-Doo Revue is another option he may enjoy, my DS however tugged my sleeve during the show and said “Dad, this is so corny.”

Aside from what kind of food he likes, what's his favorite park? Or things he'd like to do? Will you be staying on site so getting around might be easier? Does he still dig character dining or is he over it?

Hoop De Doo IS corny...but it's a fun corny, and if your kid liked chicken and ribs it might be a good choice.

If he's a little more adventurous, also maybe consider the Spirit of Aloha show at Polynesian.

I've not eaten at Skipper Canteen yet but I understand it has a little bit of the old Adventurer's Club spirit so that could be fun, too.

Rose and Crown might not be the best cuisine on the resort, but dining there guarantees you access to their private viewing areas during Reflections of Earth, even if you have an earlier dinner.

And there are meals you can reserve at both Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom that includes sort-of special seating at Fantasmic and Rivers of Light, respectively. Not like front-row seating but not "you have to wait on line to get a seat" either.

We love Mexican food so this might be perfect— thanks!

Hoop De Doo sounds a little too corny for all of us I think. I know he really wants to do the Star Wars dessert party, but it is so $$$ and I’m worried not everyone in my party of 6 will stay up that late! I will check out the Fantamic packages — thanks!

I don't post often. But we are celebrating double digits and a decade old for our littlest person during our upcoming Disney trip. Right now, I have Coral Reef booked for our dinner. I was considering having a cake sent to the restaurant. But a fireworks cruise or dessert party also sounds pretty amazing. Following for tips! Happy Birthday to your little person!

So I decided to splurge on Star Wars, and today was 180 day mark ... and no dessert parties are listed for March or April!!! Is it leaving or just not available to book until closer to our trip?

We are doing O’hana and via Napoli for dinners with grandparents later in our trip to celebrate but I now have nothing on his actual birthday. Plan B???

The Biergarten in Germany -- it's a buffet, there's a band, and they invite kids to come up and dance, and also do a special birthday shout-out.

Times for the dessert parties are only listed a few months out at a time. You’ll see reservations for that open a few months before your trip. I was checking every day but really enjoyed the party/show, and you get a nice little Star Wars souvenir afterward (Darth Vader steins for us).

My kids have always been fond of fireworks timed meals at California Grill or Narcoosee's for a special bday meal. We also usually have a custom cake delivered.
