I wish Disney had set up their AoA suites like Universal

In looking at the Jurassic Suites at Universal, they seem to be designed so much better. I like that there is a kids room - with 2 beds - and that it has no exterior door for that room. It opens into what is a "regular" hotel room.

That set up would be sooooo much better for us than the set up of the AoA suites.

I like those kids' suites at Universal too. I think I looked at the pics of the ones in the HRH. I so wish Disney had something like that.

Disney does have some amazing suites. They are not cheep or kid themed outside of AoA, but they have some amazing suites at the deluxe resorts.

the Jurassic suites lack a mini kitchen and the second bath room.

I will agree with that. However, I would prefer the place where my kid is sleeping is not out in the main area while we are in the bedroom. I really do not like this set up, and it doesn't work for me. I think my kid will have to sleep in the bedroom and share the bed with one of us (I have no idea how well that will work), or both of us sleep in the "living room" while he has the bed to himself. It would at least be better if that AoA bedroom at least had 2 beds (and I would be ok with 2 twins). Seems like they should offer some of the suites with the bed option.

It would just work out so much better if I didn't have to worry about him having access to the door. The two beds in the bedroom would also help the sleeping situation if one of use slept in the room with him.

I, personally, am glad the beds at AoA are big enough for two people. My parents took the bedroom and my husband and I slept on the sofa bed. My sister slept on the table bed, while her boyfriend slept on the floor. It wouldn't have worked if the beds had been twin size. I can understand not wanting the kids to be out in the main room while the adults are in the bedroom, but I'm personally glad the suites can sleep 6.

Yeah, but they are pricey. If all you want is a separate place for the kids to sleep, the kids suites over at Uni are perfect. Check out the pics on HRH, so cute!

One of the beds in the living room is a pull out couch and I think it is a double bed. My 19 year old daughter took that bed and loved it.

Why not just go for the Little Mermaid rooms that way no one is uncomfortable

That was always my problem with the one-beds in Disney's DVC places. I want the kids sleeping on the sofa bed, but that's in the main room. If they go to sleep in the bedroom, now we have to sleep on the sofa bed or get them up and move them.

And if the one-bedrooms weren't priced high enough, the two-bedrooms...well, we went offsite. Two bedrooms, less than a Disney moderate.

I don't know what I'm going to think of the new Uni hotel, but the idea of having a place for the kids is a good one. I am still waiting to see how it will look and what it will cost.

The problem with the 2 br villas at WDW is that you don't necessarily want to pay for all that square footage for a living room and kitchen, you just want two places to sleep that both have beds, not pullouts. And one door preferably. Which is why the Uni kids suites look perfect IMO.

What!?! I loved the All Star Family Suites. We have four kids under 8 and we were fine with them being in an open separate room. We stay at Homewood Suites when traveling elsewhere and do the same thing. The kitchen and extra bathroom were worth every penny! We had stayed at PORS and felt squished and realized WDW food can do a number on tummies so an extra bathroom was/is a must! The kitchenette was nice, I was nursing at the time and used the microwave and steam bags to sanatize bottles and pump acceriores. That was a pain and ackward in the PORS food court and got some interesting looks. We also made pop corn, oatmeal etc, I do not eat crap for breakfest and neither do my kids so we loved being able to control one clean healthy meal, making the rest of the junk we ate seem not so bad.
As for the kids sleeping in a different area, I am confused. Do you co sleep at home? We leave our door open and the bathroom the kids use open with the light on when we all go to bed for the night. The kitchenette/2nd bathroom placement is awesome, I could do dishes, prepare snacks/water bottles for the next day and make adult beverages with out disturbing the sleeping children. We could also come and go from our bathroom with out waking anyone. We could also do other things without waking kids (and the door shut). We had two kids in the full size pull out, one on chair pull out and one in the crib. I think the ottoman also converted to a bed, don't quote me though. We had plenty of room, even with the crib and sometimes stroller, the beds were super easy to use and the kids didn't complain about any lumps.
The rooms at Uni sound like the rooms at Great Wolf Lodge, they were fine for a few nights but for a week I want a two bathrooms and a kitchen.

We definitely do not co-sleep. it is not an issue of not enough room, but how it is arranged. I don't want him sleeping out in that room while we are in another, even with the bedroom door opened. I don't think it is safe. I am glad it works for other people, but it doesn't for us.

Yes, Uni is missing the 2nd bathroom and kitchenette, but I find the layout far safer. At the very least, I would like AoA to have some of its suites with the bedroom having 2 twin beds. I think that would be a decent solution.

Are you worried about someone getting in or him getting out?

Him getting out. he is smart, curious, and takes off in a flash. Although now that you mention it, that is another reason to have an adult between him and the door. Never at Disney, but I have had a couple issues in my life with people trying to get him the room in which I am staying. Once, in NZ, they did get in. They had a key coded to open our door. Luckily I was not alone, and they were quickly kept from coming all the way in. But it was scary.

LOVE the kidsuites at HRH, however the design of family suites it the best at Nickhotel.

It might be wise to invest in one of these no matter where you stay.

Yeah, I have thought about these various devices. I can see him setting it off constantly, though!

We have in the past used those bars you wedge btwn the floor and the door handle. Pretty good for keeping people out.
