How to tour World Showcase

We'll be heading down soon (9 days!) and I really don't know much about the World Showcase. Have only been there once and at the time I was tired and hot and we kinda blitzed through there.

What is the best way to tour the World Showcase? Do you ride all the rides in each country? Just walk through all the shops? I think I would enjoy some of the shows -- I assume the showtimes are listed on the printed schedule that's available at the entrance to Epcot?

So - how do you tour WS?

Yep, any scheduled shows are in the entertainment guide. We usually work our schedules around shows and entertainment.

My wife and I always dedicate a minimum of 6 hours to the countries. We try to start early to mid afternoon and then be in position for illuminations @ 9:00. We like to take our time and look for any new things that may have been added since our last trip, and yes, we do all the attractions as well. As well as a beverage or two as well.......:D

Make sure you catch as many of the street acts as possible and The Voices of Liberty in America. You have to try the rides at least once. We also usually start in Canada but usually end up going back and forth a bit in order to catch as many of the street acts as possible. Wear your most comfortable shoes because you will be on your feet most of the day.

Be sure and go on an empty stomach. WS has some good food. School Bread in Norway, Napoleon in France, etc.

I can spend two whole touring days in World Showcase. I go around once, and usually again a day or two later. I always o the rides multiple times, and I love to see the films as well. Eat lunch, get a snack, eat dinner. Catch the live entertainment, then grab the perfect spot for Illuminations about an hour early.
World Showcase is so detailed that you will always find something new to notice. It's also my favorite place in WDW to just sit and soak in the atmosphere.

We tour Future World until World Showcase opens at 11:00. We always start at Mexico and go all the way around. We go in and out of all the shops, ride the rides and stop at the US Paviillion and have lunch at Liberty Inn then go on around, catching any shows, etc., along the way. We go back to Future World when finished and catch anything we missed that morning. Each time we do Epcot we do this and so at the end of the day we have basically done ALL of Epcot including Future World.

WS Tour

We start in Mexico and go around to Canada, then go back and hit the ones we liked again. We ride the rides and watch the movies and listen to the preformers. I get a drink in Italy, Germany, France and Great Britian usually. We look through most of the shops and we stop longest in Japan at the pick a pearl area. This next trip we are going to do try the Kim Possible Adventure. We also pick something to take a picture in each country. Don't miss the Song of Liberty in America they are great. Don't miss Illuminations. We watch from Germany.:sohappy:

My approach is similar.

I usually start in Mexico (but have been known to start in Canada). Then I slowly make my way around the countries.

What I find the most rewarding is taking it slowly. In a way, I call it going from from theme park mode and and into tourist mode. By that I mean that I take the time to really check out the pavilions, stroll through the shops, and watch the shows & performers. The only hopping around I do is to check the show times on the scheduled performers. Sometimes I'll jump ahead/back to catch a performer that sounds really interesting.

In the evening, I've also enjoyed a few frosty beverages. It's fascinating to see how your view of Epcot changes when your a bit more "relaxed". Not sure I'd do it every time, but it's something to try once or twice!

One last thing - be careful about your timing of hitting the American pavilion. The AA show there is terrific - it's really one of my favorites in all of WDW. However, if you get there in the late afternoon, those comfortable chairs in a dark theater can lead to some dozing off. I've missed big chunks of the show on more than one occasion!

Two extra tips:

Dont forget to play the Kim Possible game. It really is a lot of fun and shows you a lot of the country that you are playing in (And its go at your own pace).

Last but certainly not least try to come back during Food and Wine Festival! It makes what is already great about WS and magnifys it by a million (IMO :) )

Ride the two rides. See the films in France, China, and Canada if you can. The American Adventure is a MUST. Make sure you don't pass over the museum galleries in China, Japan, Norway, and Morocco. They're hidden gems that aren't to be missed.

Start in Canada in the mid or late afternoon, Mingle in the shops etc.(It's just me, but I like to spend an hour or two in Japan.) Continue around the other countries looking at shops etc. Stop in Norway ride Malestrom. Continue exploring shops etc. Pick up a churro or something to eat in Mexico. Usually get dinner in a country. (Last time it was Morocco, everything was booked  ) Find a country to stay in to watch Illuminations. (depending what country I'm in I'll mingle around in the shops until there is 15 minutes before Illuminations.)

We always make 2 visits to the park to ensure that we get everything in that we want to do. We usually do Test Track & Mission Space first, then go around the countries, taking as much time as we want to linger and take everything in. The second visit to the park we head straight to Soarin , then back to a few of our most favorite countries, then scope out all the shops and anything else we've missed. We've done all the Kim Possible games over several trips as well. Illuminations finish off the day.
