I owe someone $12.40....so I'm gonna stop buying them because I could buy a couple lunches this week for that.
But really, the intent of the "like" system on these newer forum softwares is to eliminate the need to quote someone's post simply for the sake of saying "I agree". Instead, one can just "like" a post, just how one can "like" something on Facebook without actually commenting on it.
To make a contest out of it is just plain silly.

Wouldn't it be funny if we picked some random forum comment with little or no significance whatsoever, and we ALL hit 'like' on it?
The next time the unsuspecting poster logs on, he/she would have 68,650 like alerts for that one comment.
I swear, decades from now that poster would still be confused as to what that was all about.
