How fanatic are Disney World fanatics?

I feel like some Disney fans intensely love WDW. I'd love to hear your stories about what's the most fanatical thing you've done? Get sney tattoos? Decorate your house to Disney? Move to Orlando for WDW? Have you been to ever major expansion on opening day in recent years and waited in insanely long lines?

It had always been my dream to eventually move to Orlando (been in Florida for 12 years, Orlando 2). I was lucky enough to fulfill moving to Orlando by the time I was 25, with a career in the area.

My entire condo is largely Disney. Disney art, Disney figurines, Disney etc. This is my favorite area of the living room! I go to the parks about once a week.

Woke up at 4am on a Saturday, drove my self 7 hrs straight to Disney. Checked in at the All Star Movies at noon. Then got on a bus and parked hopped HS, Epcot, and MK. Rode rides in each park. Then finished the night with DS. Next morning, woke up and drove the 7 hrs back home. That was the craziest thing I have ever done.

I'm jealous your only 7 hours away! But that is an awesome story!

The company I work for has several clients in the Orlando area. Whenever they require an on-site visit I volunteer to go and ask for two PTO days. One day for the company and two for me at WDW. Usually I am done by early afternoon so it is really two and a half days for me. If offered I would accept a remote assignment there in a heartbeat. My DW says she does not want to live Florida it is too hot and they have alligators. I think I would miss her.

Disneybounding. Now that's fanaticism. Not my bag of tea but to each their own. But I guess since I have Disney items scattered around my home others might consider me a fanatic.

But maybe the "craziest" (if you can call it that) is riding out Hurricane Hermine in Tallahassee on a Thursday-Friday, waking up on a Saturday morning when the power is out, and getting the heck out of dodge to my WDW planned vacation which I never cancelled where there is A/C and enjoyment rather than sweating it out in Tallahassee with no power for a week.

The blue dot is me.

A handful of days every year my wife and I sit on the deck with a cup of coffee (we're early risers - so this is maybe 7am) and the question of "What do you want to do today" comes up. My response is "Let's get the kids up and head to Disney for the day."

It's usually impromptu, and it's only an hour and a half drive. I find this happening more during F&G, F&W, or during the holidays. And it's almost always EPCOT or in some instances Disney Springs with a visit to a couple of resorts.

Our favorite resort is Wilderness Lodge (might be because we live in the Pacific NW). I have been redoing my house to look like WL for years. One time I went to the front desk to ask if they knew where I could buy some of the same decor. They actually had the woman in charge of choosing and purchasing everything get in touch with me! She said she could meet me at the Lodge in the afternoon - we spent an informative 3 hours walking through out while she told me many things as I took notes. It was so special, and I have been acquiring items ever since. A seller on ebay even sells stuff out of different resorts as they upgrade. I bought a mirror out of one of the rooms a couple months ago. I have the same chair rails all over that are in the hallways (DH stopped and asked one of the men that happened to be restaining them one time what the brand, color, and wood type was so we could do it at home. Then he borrowed a tape measure and measured the top and bottom pieces, and the space between the slats. Ours look darn close!) All kinds of details now - and technically I'm still doing it so we're talking years of crazy.

I'm not a fanatic in crazy senses. I bought into DVC so I've plunked down a lot of money for Disney. I've done short, last minute trips. I spend time on Disney forums. Other than that, I really do not do much.

I don't really buy Disney items, I don't wear Disney clothes, I have no desire to spend hours in line for opening weekends (cannot physically tolerate it either), I'm not a Disney apologist, I'm not a true fanatic. I enjoy it, but am not crazy about it.

I retired early from construction (51) sold the house in New England , came down to FL to pursue a job in the parks ( fun job). I work because I want to. It was always on my bucket list, I'm having a ball!!

That sounds really nice. My husband is retired from construction too, but can't seem to get him to "retire" altogether LOL!
It takes a lot of patience (which I & my husband don't have), to be a bus driver, especially at WDW. Kudos to you. I couldn't deal with some of those entitled people each day, but I guess the truly happy people and children must make up for it?
See you in December:)
