How early can I book?

Room only is 499 days out.

Packages vary as they release in blocks of time. I might be off a bit, but I think they are typically under a year out.

Planning a trip next June. How early are we able to book? Is that the same for packages vs room only?
I booked my June 2020 trip in early July. I am renting DVC points, so I wanted to get it done at the 11 month window to get my preferred room type and resort. If you are wanting to stay at a deluxe resort, I highly recommend this as Disney's rack rates for these resorts are insane. There is still plenty of availability at some really good resorts.

What does "Renting DVC Points" mean?
You can actually get a DVC room at a much lower rate by renting points from a DVC owner.

You can do this on your own if you know an owner, but there are third party companies such as Dave's Vacation Club Rentals that can handle the process.

What does "Renting DVC Points" mean?
As someone else already posted, renting DVC points is contracting someone who has Disney Vacation Club (DVC) ownership with Disney and renting their points. Dave's charges $18 a point for reservations made more than 7 months in advance and $17 a point for reservations made 7 months and below in advance. I have not used Dave's due to the price point as well as each time I tried, the was not an owner available for my reservation point amount. However, I hear very good things about the website. I have used Mouseowners and have posted "wanting to rent" ads for owners to get a hold of me as well as responded to owner's "confirmed reservations/points for rent" ads. I have never paid over $15/point and have paid as low as $11/point. DVC studio rooms are about 10-30 points per night in June depending on resort, day of the week, and view. There is more risk involved with renting privately, but if you get references, ensure they use a contract, and check their deeds out, don't pay until they give you a confirmation number, then you are good to go. You can book as early as 11 months out with a DVC owner that has points at that resort; otherwise, you have can book any DVC at 7 months out with any owner. For instance, I wanted Copper Creek at the Wilderness Lodge, so I had to find someone who owned a Copper Creek DVC ownership to book it for me right at 11 months before my trip.

For my June trip, I saved about 55% off of Disney's rack rate, which is more than what I would have saved with an AP discount (CCV was $255/night with renting points). When I stayed at Poly in 2018, I paid about $300/night for a week long stay. In my experience, you get deluxe accommodations at about a moderate resort rate. Also, parking is included when you rent or stay on DVC points. The DDP can be added by the owner as well as DME if you need it too. I've kicked around whether or not to buy my own DVC membership, but I haven't been able to get my head around the initial investment, which is like $20,000. Renting points has worked well for me financially and I have rented with five different people throughout the years with no problems.
