Run a cable thru the costume and have it come out the finger...trigger switch..run fireworks thru it...magic

I personally don't think those are mickeys real hands. If there were fireworks in the characters glove, I could see that resulting in burns and I don't think it would go over big with the younger croud to see mickey screaming in pain. Also, there doesn't seem to be enough room to fit a firework in the finger part of the glove, along with the finger. I think it's a hand on a stick which shoots the fireworks, which is held by the person in the costumes real hand. I could be wrong, but it seems logical to me.

Is that picture from the last appearance of Mickey in Fantasmic? I mean, when he is on top of the mountain, or when he is downstairs by the fountains? Please refresh my memory... there could be your answer.... depending on the costume...

I'm talking about the one in the bottom witht the suit, but I couldn't find a picture of that that I could use, so I simply posted a press photo that never happens during the show. - The WeirdOne

Without getting too detailed as to how I know I can tell you, first-hand that they ARE pyro launchers embedded in the character's gloves.

Heres your answer

Mickey wears extra-large gloves with small pyro spray charges embedded into the end of the pointer fingers. All he has to do is push a tiny little button on the palms of each of his hands that is attached to a wire that is attached to the little pyro charge. Notice he curls the rest of his fingers up in a ball? That because he is pushing the little mechanism that sparks the charge. Pretty neat huh!

By the way, think of the MTV halftime show in 2001 with Aerosmith, etc. They used the same concept in that show.

pyro embedded in the fingertip of the glove. mickey sometimes also wears gel lined gloves underneath the pyro gloves so as to not burn his fingertips.

I was doing some reasearch for some special effects in my school play, and lo and behold, there are "finger sparkers" which are basically rings, which spout sparks...i guess that the ones in fantasmic are just these rings with lots of sparky-things inside....

No, it is a press release shot, I guess it was for publicity because it was never used in the show. And yes, Mickey deosn shoot them aty the bottom by the fountains. - The WeirdOne

Don't think it's based on location - this same effect is used in the Grad Nite fireworks show and is out on the stage in front of the castle, up on a podium that raises several feet.
