Hey, Does anyone remember the houses that were in the "Fairway Villas" areas at the Disney Inst./Village resort? There was between 3-5 of them and they all had a different architectural design I believe.

The last time I stayed at Disney Institute was about 7 years ago and I remember them there then. BUt does anyone know if they were torn down between the end of Disney Inst. and Saratoga Springs? Anyone know if they will be torn down come 2nd phase of Saratoga Springs?

Thanks,
Phosphate

*edit* Ack, I posted this in the wrong forum meant to put it in the WDW Resort.....forum, sorry about that.. Mods please move this when you get around to it

Drove by the homes today and they looked very run down. They used to be the best accomidations on property! The Fairway villas have some serious tree damage but are still standing. The Treehouses looked like they were ok, but we didn't drive through there. Maybe Sunday we will go over there and take a look.

The Villas, Houses and Treehouses are mostly vacant and a manager of Saratoga Springs said they could be used for overflow if the capacity was needed. The Treehouses will not be taken down, because they can't build anything else there (some environmental thing).

Earlier this year we took a the launch from POR to DTD. The driver said when we were passsing the Treehouses the were going to re-open them. He said there are only about 13 or was it 18 of them. I was shocked at that number. I staying in one once in the early/mid 1980s. We had usually stayed in the Polynesian and I did not like staying there instead. They were big and nice but it wasn't the same for me.

The first disney resort I ever stayed in was the fairway villas in 1988. Does anyone have pics of them? It would be neat to see them again now. I don't remember much about them except that they were wooden and I think had like a car port. Also the maid found a porcelin mickey figurine left in the room next to me and gave it to me. I still have it (although it's ear has been superglued on because I used to play with it and broke it once). I was only 5 at the time but I always thought the mickey was pretty cool (must've been since I still remember it).

The Fairway Villas are slated to be removed for Phase 3 of Saratoga Springs, which was announced at the official grand opening celebration. (Though they didn't mention that the FVs would be removed. It's just that they're located in the only place that they can build more units after Phases 1 & 2.)

Thanks for the info about the houses caparamedic. It is such a shame that they are run down.

I think it would be neat if they incorporate the Fairways into Phase 3 instead of tearing them down. They should really just repair them and continue to let people stay in them.

To me, the Fairways always had the neatest architecture on property.

From what I could see of the Treehouses on the boat from POR to DTD, they looked like they used to be very nice and a lot of fun to stay in. I hope they really do open them back up (after a nice renovation, of course).

I do remember a chunk of them cannot be moved due to their proximity to a presurve.... They are on what became protected land after they were built....

So eyther they have them remain... or open and fix them up.

Have them be overflow perhaps...
