Hotel occupancy for the first half of 2014

I'm probably alone in this but kind of like Disaster :hilarious:
ET definitely needs some love.
Terminator can go, I won't miss it.
Seuss could definitely use fresh paint.

I'm not saying Universal has no faults because they definitely do. I just can't understand why Disney is letting things get so bad... I can't understand why their maintenance isn't what it used to be. It is disappointing to Disney lovers like myself.:(

And I didn't say DA was "better" I said it was "much more well executed."
I'm not talking about the experience, I'm talking about the level of detail, immersion, and layout. It also took less time and money.

Maybe I am being overly optimistic but I think Disney is turning it around. We spent a week on property last month and the parks and others areas looked great, best in years honestly. Time will tell but I have high hopes :)

I think the two rivals are driving improvement in each other, and we win :)

NFL: yes--the bulk of it opened 2 years ago.

Disney Springs: a Starbucks and a restaurant. So no, not really, just standard shifting of tenants.

Avatar: At least 3 years off. So no, not at the moment.

DTD is getting more than just what you listed. NFL just opened its show piece ride this year IMO. But regardless it's a new build even if a few years old. And Avatar is building now, thus it's new. :)

I would hope you are right. I just don't see it right now.

We spent a week on property in May and it was just okay. Not the best trip we've had but I think some of that was my fault. We didn't spend more than 6 hours in each park and didn't see any of the fireworks. But I know this October trip will be better.

And I completely agree with your last sentence.

We are back in Jan, I wish Oct so we could goto NSSHP :)

Sorry I meant Twister at Uni was out of date, your right Disaster is a great ride :)

:cautious: I like Twister too :hilarious:

Oh noes!!! But then I really think the movie plot and script was horrible!! Evil weathermen in black vehicles vs good weathermen, supernatural storm senses, storms every 5 mins appear to chase, yeah that movie was pretty bad IMO. And the ride is just dated looking I think.

But the flying cow was cool :)

Subtraction followed by replacement is not addition. If DTD kept what it had, and got something new, that would be addition. To refresh/replace/renew items one for one is updating. To place less than what was there is partial replacement after subtraction. Not really growth, but more cosmetics. IMHO

It's going to be better next year than it is now, that's growth and improvement to me. I'm a glass half full guy :)

Meh... I can see the "improvement" part if the area does, in fact, improve (I don't know that for sure because I don't know what companies are coming in) but improvement and growth aren't exactly synonymous. Growth usually means additions... adding in numbers. And improvement is fairly subjective. I'm sure there are those here who could debate that the stores and restaurants are going to fall short of what was lost in Pleasure Island. I can't say that for sure either because I never went there, but I can think of at least five people on these boards who could probably successfully debate that issue, if you wanted to start a separate thread (so as not to completely derail this one... since talking about hotel occupancy is, you know, uber exciting and all ;))

Why does this matter so much to you? Do have personal stake in this? Does Bob Iger lose sleep if you aren't actively defending bad P&R business decisions on a web site?

Unlike others on this website, I do not make up numbers. These are from http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/os-hotel-occupancy-reports-june-20140721,0,7161986.story

The first half of 2014 has been kind to Central Florida's hotel industry, with properties routinely reporting year-over-year gains. Through the first six months of the year, occupancy rates for the region were running at 76.9 percent, compared with 73.9 percent for the first half of 2013.

Average room rates during that time were up 5.6 percent and revenue per available room was up almost 10 percent.

As a stockholder I do have a personal stake in this. There are also many other stockholders here that are interested. Since you are not interested I would suggest you ignore the threads on hotel capacity and company profits. I put the Comcast theme park numbers up in the Universal Section a few days ago and will put up the Disney profits here on August 5th.

I'm a stockholder as well and I just want new attractions.

Yes, shareholders are the only one with any sort of vested interest in the parks. An outlook as slanted as your supposed "factual" threads....

Please tell me where I said only stockholders are interested in the profits. I said if somepne is not interested don't read my threads dealing with that information. I really don't understand why you take what people post so personally and are always attacking those who do not agree with you. If you don't want to read my posts ignore them. If you have something to say that adds to the subject please do but stop your constant complaints and attacks. And I agree with Mike S, I would like new attractions.

Now we are debating if someone can express their opinion on a Internet forum without being questioned as to why they are....I thought that was the purpose of forums...

Seems to be a direct line from your constant lines of b#ll#cks to these so-called attacks.....

Unless someone breaks out the Doc and his time traveling car it does not matter to me what DTD was like a decade ago. I am just happy it is getting better in the here and now :)

I still say it will be better next year than this year, that's improvement for me. No harm no foul if not everyone agrees about it. :)

Animal Kingdom a perfect park? I can't say I agree, but that's merely my opinion.

DisneySea is near-perfect, yet got more expansion than the incomplete Animal Kingom.

Disney may use real AAs but they struggle with the maintenance on them. Yeti & Snow White?

Fair point.

Gringotts the ride doesn't have any AA's but the queue and money exchange do. I have seen ride videos of Gringotts, it definitely is Mummy like.

If I recall correctly, the queue AAs were non-compliant and looked a bit off. More in line with GMR's Sigourney Weaver than something like Ursula.
