Trip Report Hot, wet, sunny, and too much time in Chilis; a June 2013 Trip Report

Hi folks!
This is my first ever full trip report so I hope you all enjoy it.
We’ve had a fabulous 2 weeks in sunny, slightly rainy, but mostly hot Orlando. We’ve had a lot of new experiences during our trip, more probably for hubster, and most for my parents.
If you would like to read my pre trip report, it’s here:

http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/its-got-so-bad-theres-even-a-jar-involved-june-2013-ptr.862626/

So we’re not ones to completely focus on Disney on a holiday, but we’ve certainly done more Disney than anything else this trip. I wanted to make sure I got in as much as possible so my planning started at 380 days out, including booking reservations on Christmas and Boxing day, and plenty of scouring the forum for ideas. Sad to say I haven’t been able to fulfill them all (Push you little minx, you alluded me once again!) but have still had plenty of new experiences.

We’ve had a 2 week stay at the Enclave Suites on Carrier Drive which is just off International Drive. Oh boy do I wish we had driven this trip. $12 per person to get to and from the World. No room tax though, but still. And because of all the rain we’ve had, it would have been just swell to have had a dry pair of shoes and clothes waiting in a car on more than one occasion.

I also took 3030 photos on this trip! I said I wanted to take more, but wow, I wasn't expecting to finish with 3030. This isn't including the ones took on James' phone either! Wowza.

Incase you haven’t read my PTR, the cast is as follows:

Me, Clare. 24 years young, dental nurse and Disney nut!

DH, James, 33 years young, dental technician, prefers white knuckle rides to Disney, but is still happy to participate in the goings on in the World.

My Mom, Yvonne, 61 years young, accounts clerk, likes Disney but not so much the heat.
And finally, My Dad, Clive, 63 years young, warehouse man, goes wherever the two women want him to go!

Coming up, Day 0: Longest work day EVER and driving down to London baby!

We need time for things to happen.
Im having a wonderful tIme reading along. I cant wait to read more.
Sorry those wipeouts ruined your UoE ride (i am a fan of it myself), for the most part i am a peace loving man, but that level inconsideration, brings the most evil of wishful thoughts to mind the very least of which is an ejection seat.

I was so tempted to say something but I held my tongue. I don't think they would have understood me anyway because they didn't speak English by the sounds of it.

Glad everyone is liking my report. Next installment coming later! :D

Day 4: Typhoon Lagoon.

We decided to go to Typhoon Lagoon as a bit of a relaxer. We also decided to get the bus there and back. Bad idea! The bus takes FOREVER. We set off at about 8.00 and didn’t get to the Magic Kingdom until 10.30. Insane! Safe to say, we didn’t bother with the bus again.
But by 10.30 the queue to get into the Magic Kingdom was insane. So glad we weren’t going there today!

I really wanted to tell these people that they could use the resort monorail to get into the MK but then I thought it would ruin the nice empty monorail for the resort guests. We, however, did board the resort monotrail!

As we wanted to get to the Poly, we decided to get on the Monorail for the first time this trip!

Hello Monorail Gray!

After a quick at the beauty and majesty of the Poly, we headed for the bus stop. Bus arrived pretty much instantly.

Also, said bus was EMPTY! Hurray!

After a short bus ride, we arrived at Typhoon Lagoon.

Erm, wheres the crocodile gone?? The hut does not provide a very interesting photo!

Upon arrival, we went and rented a locker. Something, again, we’ve never done before but we had a few valuables so decided to rent one. Usually we just leave our stuff by a bed but didn’t want to risk it.
We left the cameras and stuff in the locker so there aren’t many pictures.
Our first ride was ‘the newest ride in Typhoon Lagoon, Crush n Gusher!’. They need to update that bus spiel. It was new when we last went 3 years ago! The line listed what I thought was 20 minutes. It was pretty much a walk on. This was probably because after we’d been on it twice, we noticed the sign actually said 120 minutes... what?? We saw a few people walk away because of that, oh dear.
We pretty much followed the park round. We went on the Storm Slides, all the Falls. The slide we queued longest for was the family raft ride ha!
We also got to go in Shark Reef this time too! We didn’t do it last time because I misread the sign and thought it was $20 each. I really enjoyed it, though it was bloomin’ cold! James said he enjoyed it after he got to the end and stopped panicking about trying to swim (he’s not a strong swimmer!)

After a while we were getting peckish so decided to go and get the cameras and have a wonder around the park, and stop somewhere for some ice cream.

We noticed Stitch was out!

And I enjoyed my first ever Mickey Premium Bar. OMG it was delish!

I’m so glad I found these for James!

After our wonder round the park, we put the stuff away again and had a float around the lazy river a few times. So relaxing.

By 2pm we had had enough so decided to leave. But on our way back, I wanted to show James what he was missing in a Disney Resort Hotel. Now, I wanted to go to the hotel with the giant Mickey phone which I thought was Art of Animation but I’ve now figured out that was Pop Century I think?
Anyway we ended up at Art of Animation. James was pretty shocked at how beautifully done it all was.

I felt ever so naughty snooping around, and even naughtier when we ‘broke’ into the pool area. I had no intention of actually using the pool but anyone who did could quite easily get in there. We just followed someone else in.

We didn’t stay long as I felt like I was trespassing and it was getting really hot. So we headed back off to the TTC to catch our bus.

I really wanted to go in! Boo.

We eventually got back around 4pm. We went back to the hotel for a quick snooze, before heading out to one of our favourite restaurants on I- Drive, Don Pablos!

Chilis!

We jumped on the I Ride bus to get down there. It was only a few stops but hey, we’re on holiday!

Here’s James looking way too excited about Don Pablos!

If only I could get him to be like that for Disney.... one day!

Look at that face!

I ordered a trio platter. It had Tacos, refried beans, a burrito wrap and a quesadilla. It was super yummy but super filling.

James ordered a beef burrito.

Once we had finished, we did decide to walk back up to the hotel. We needed to after the barrage of food! We stopped off at Chilis again... and I tried my first ever Strawberry Lemonade. Y-U-M! I had these pretty much all holiday after trying that one.

Next Up: Day 5: MGM Studios!

Hopefully the next morning is the one where you get James to put some sunblock on. Yike!
Great fun reading this!

Yeah, he doesn't do sun cream. He's very silly but he just won't have it... I even tried to put some on while he was sleeping but he woke up lol.
To be honest we both caught it round Typhoon Lagoon. Infact, I think he did have some on that day but going in and out of the water obviously washes it off.

Looking forward to reading more!!! Loving your TR!!!

Glad you're all enjoying it. The next part is ready for uploading later :D

Yes we did! It's a pretty awesome sight walking into Hogsmeade and seeing Hogwarts. I'm sure it's even more of a thrill if you're a proper fan. I'm not much of a fan and I was impressed. But yes, that'll be in my report soon.

Great trip report! Lucky, you got to get into the AOA pool area!

We did but I felt so naughty. I felt everyone knew we shouldn't be there. No way would I have actually pulled up a sunbed and gone in the water but I think it's definitely opened my husbands eyes to how awesome a Disney Resort Hotel is. Like I say, I was meant to go to the POP but got mixed up with this one. I wouldn't mind staying at either of them.

Thanks! I have plenty more. We've been experiencing a bit of a heat wave over here in the UK (high 80's haha) so I haven't had chance to get onto the pc since I posted the last day. I'll get the next day up very soon.
Premium bars are heaven! I can't believe I'd never tried one before. Absolutely gorgeous. Though I made a mistake of looking at the nutritional values... 70% of your daily saturates argh! Still, worth it!.

OMG I've just looked at that picture on a different monitor to my own. He looks like a lobster! I swear he wasn't actually that red and he doesn't look that red on the camera or on my laptop. But on this monitor at work, wowza...! He looks like a tomato hahaha.
