Horseback riding

Someone tell me about your experience riding the horse trail at WDW. Last night I booked a ride for the Mrs. and me for our anniversary on September 8th. Not gonna lie, I'm a bit nervous as I've only ridden horses twice and the second time was a very crazy experience.

Ive done it a few times. I grew up around horses and at one time did a lot of riding. The horses Disney uses are very mild and because they are used so much on the trails they are conditioned to their routine. They follow along the CM guide and don't make the ride a problem. They occasionally will stop and need some prompting to continue on.
The Disney horses are different than horses you may have rented out to ride at any riding stable. They are not going to be headstrong and cause issues on the ride. It is a pleasant time. If you and your DW have not ridded in a while it will take a while to get used to the motion of the horse and sitting in the saddles.
The stables at Disney are very plush and be sure to take the time to look over the displays that are around. You get a good sense of how much Walt enjoyed horses and made them an integral part of his park.

Oh yeah, she's definitely a rider. We have two horses currently but they're too old to ride. Glad to hear they're gentile. Thanks for the information!

Glad to hear she is an experienced rider, you not so much. Our rides somewhat varied in time but you can count on 45- 60 min ride throughs. That isn't a long time to have it affect you much but prepare for some after ride tenderness in the thigh muscles and butt because you aren't used to the action that you get from the action of the horse. Some tensing of your legs on the horse may cause that soreness.

Yeah, my first ride was when I was 13 and the second was when I was 17....so it's been a long time.
