horizon building

I remember it well, seeing as my disney obsession started with a trip in Feb. 1999 and I was wondering why Horizons, which had always been my favorite attraction had closed.

A Yahoo! search for "Disney discontinued attractions" led me to Werner Weiss' Yesterland, which was the start of the enlightenment!

I finally found my way to a small site called DisneyWorld Magic!

Anyways... It definately all started with the Abandoned Horizons Building... that and lines on the Skyways towers... hehe

btw... are we SURE all the attractions have been removed from WoL? I never recieved absolute confirmation on this.

It was my understanding that Cranium Command (my it RIP :cry:) and Body Wars are still intact. :shrug:

As of recently, Body Wars is mostly intact hardware-wise but inoperable. Same for CC. It wouldn`t cost a lot of time nor money to reinstate them if they wanted to. Which they don't.

No way!:eek::lol:

That's pretty cool. I guess the rumors that they had been demo-ed were false!

We can still rescue Buzzy!:lol::lookaroun

Not at all! It is a truly great attraction that offers a unique experience that you can only experience at EPCOT. It is bad that Horizons was torn down to make way for it, b/c they both could've existed. However, Disney wasn't willing to write the check to save Horizons, instead they decided to tear it down. In it's place, a great attraction opened. Get mad at Disney, not M:S. :animwink:

Agreed. M:S is the last attraction Disney really went out on a limb and tried something new, and I love it.

As said before, don't hate M:S, hate the decision to tear down Horizons instead of having both great attractions.

Mission Space is an Awesome attraction.

It's not a GREAT attraction, but it is pretty awesome.

I think if they made a more EPCOT Center-like post show to the attraction, it would really complete the experience.

The ride goes there, but the Queue, Themeing, story, and Post Show need to be ALOT more EPIC.

Do I like it? Yes. Can I defend it? Not that much.

HORIZONS FTW.

I like the queue, but the ending hallway is lame except for Destiny. That said, Horizons didn't offer anything after the actual ride either. :shrug:

I'm not denying that Horizons was better. I just feel like M:S gets an unnecessary bad rap because people loved Horizons so much.

EXACTLY!! I think people rip on it just b/c of where it was placed. Had it been placed between The Land and The Living Seas, I doubt we would have all the M:S hate that fills the web.
