Went to see HoP and noticed an orchestra pit in front of the stage with chairs and music stands...What do they use this for?

Always wondered about this...pretty sure it's just for show, and a way to remove seats that would have terrible sight lines, but I'd love to know if it was ever used

Well at night sometimes the cast members like to gather around and serenade the animatronic presidents to sleep with the greatest hits of their eras. This is one of the more unknown aspects of a show reset.

You're only half right, the AA's are actually evil demon spirits that are encased inside the robotic bodies that seek to be released and destroy the world. The only way they can be contained is if a orchestra and equity actors perform the entirety of the opera H.M.S. Pinafore on a nightly basis. However some nights the actors don't finish in time and are eaten by the Demons, that's why other live performances around the resort are routinely shuttered to move those equity actors over to the Demon Opera...

I read it in Playbill! ;)

It is for the Muppets Sing Along that will be sharing the time with HoP

The pit has always been there. I don't think, however, that there were ever chairs and music stands.

Now that Disney's producing/distributing the Hamilton musical film, they have the pit ready for the forthcoming stage show. You wanna talk about boarding groups... woo-ee!

Nah. You mean the sing-along.

All joking aside, that pit has been there for a while and I've often wondered about it as well. Especially noticing the chairs and stands on the inside every time.

To be clear - all Disney is doing is distributing the theatrical release. The Hamilton film was already filmed in 2016 with the original cast on Broadway.

That’s why I said distribute. Still, the official announcement reads “Disney presents”.

I live down the street from the Richard Rodgers, aight?
