Honeypot: Complaints about the Skyliner/Gondola; also worries and insecurities

Everyone is missing the point on the video. This happened in Venice, Italy.
What makes you think that anyone missed the point. I was pretty sure it wasn't the Lagoon at Epcot. That same thing happened in New Orleans about 25 years ago. It took out half of a mall that was in the edge of the Mississippi. It was right near the Aquarium.

In another attempt to keep the original gondola thread focused on construction upates, I thought I'd create a separate thread for folks to use to complain about aspects of the gondola that the moderators have requested that we keep out of the main thread. In addition, people should feel free to create additional complaints or talk about their anxieties here as well.

I'll keep an index here in the first post.

Complaints that have only been rationalized, but not eliminated:
* Lack of air conditioning
- only one gondola system in the world has AC - Mar 10 2017
- two, actually, London and Macau
- Giant Buddha and Ocean Park gondolas in Hong Kong don't have AC and seem ok
- ventilation options provided by CWA
- yes, Macau gondola at Wynn Palace has AC - April 6 2017
- how are they going to tackle AC? - May 2-3
- analogy to elevator with no AC - June 28-30
- summarizes complaints so far - July 2
- gondola without AC and the 1984 Mississippi World's Fair was ok - July 17
- sarcastic comment about lack of AC triggers another discussion - July 17-20
- AC would be hard to retrofit - November 23
- 3 wire gondola with AC - Feb 16 2018
- it's going to be hot - Mar 5
- sarcastically: will the skyliner have AC? - Apr 1
- assumption that gondolas will be air conditioned - Apr 13
- in denial about AC - Apr 19
- summary of concerns, will be too hot - May 5
- air conditioned versions exist elsewhere - June 2
- this wacko speculated that one could cool the cabins with dry ice or liquid nitrogen - June 4
- AC comes up in interview with Poma CEO - June 17
- let's discuss AC some more - June 22-24
- maybe it will be cooler higher up? - July 12
- has anyone heard about the Emirates gondola in London? - Aug 15-16
- Jim Hill says the Skyliner will have AC - Sep 3
- Hey, didn't Jim Hill mention that the gondolas would have AC? - Oct 9
- If the gondola doesn't have AC, how will the guests not overheat? - Nov 17
- I can't believe the Skyliner cars don't have AC - Nov 20-21
- Has anyone ridden in it yet to see if it's too hot, despite the fact that they won't open for another several months? - June 5-7 2019
- again, though I think I have the OP on ignore so I can't trace the beginning of this
- https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads...as-already-been-discussed.924477/post-8784419
- https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads...-been-discussed.924477/page-1001#post-8783793
- more references to come!
* Ugly towers
* Sightlines
* Crowding due to forced sharing
- brought up again in the main thread
* Acrophobia - It may not be that far off the ground, but if it's still a problem, you may have to use alternate transportation. There may or may not be a direct bus from your resort, but you can always transfer at Disney Springs or another park.
* Social awkwardness when sharing a cabin -

Complaints that have been addressed:
* Lightning
* Noise

Vanishingly low probability complaints:
* Drowning
* Falling due to truck hitting a support pole
* Falling for unspecified reasons

Fun complaints created in jest:
* Sinkholes
* Alligators
* Amoeba
* Gondola babies - I put this here because I'm not exactly sure what the complaint aspect is.
* Starvation
* Killer bees 🔗
* Low flying birds 🔗
* Cheap jokes about the lack of air conditioning
- Easy bake oven - hammer came down on this one, thankfully
* farting - here

Other
* Too many people are overly fascinated by the gondola 🔗
* Reedy Creek Fire Department thinks it is overstretched - here
* Can't take pictures through the character wraps - here

Edited to add: As part of this, those offended by the complaining should not read the thread. The whole point is to free you from having to read this in the main gondola thread!

Edited to add: If you're mad about the negativity and don't know what a honeypot is, read this article on honeypots in wikipedia:
What about the gondola being attacked by a swarm of killer bees
OR a giant space goat thinking they are a string of tasty fruit and gobbling them up as they pass by
OR the occupants are transported up to an alien space craft as the aliens can save energy by not having to transport people up from the ground. I'll stick to the bus thank you

On Wednesday morning 10/16 we two FL resident passholders were at Epcot and checked to see if by any chance the Gondolas had opened early. They HAD and we had a pleasant trip from Epcot to the Hub and back to Epcot.. The HS line was not open yet (didn't until Thursday). The ride was very comfortable, airy (not hot.. outside temps in low 80s) and we were quite pleased. Only one brief pause with no problems at all. I can't wait to use it in the future. By next month when we return we hope to be able to park at HwStudios and journey to Epcot and back. We might even take the monorail from Epcot to the Magic Kingdom. If we plan a long-ish day we could do the three-park round trip without having to drive between parks.
We had no issues with the Gondola and look forward to riding again! Don't be scared, folks! It works!

I am a former New Orleanian and regularly went to the 1985-85 World's Fair where the Gondolas crossed the Mississippi River. Being on them at night and crossing during the fireworks was an unforgettable experience!!
It was hoped that the Gondolas would remain as an alternative "commuting experience" to and from the West Bank. But, of course, this was impractical and the attraction was sold after the fair finished. I believe an entrepeneur from the West bought it with the idea to move it to the desert where lives the original "London Bridge." (Really!)
The New Orleans World's Fair Gondola was called "M.A.R.T" --- which stood for "Mississippi Aerial River Transit." But a local journalistic wag termed it "M.A.R.T.--- Meaningless and Risky Transportation." True! LOL.

I am happy you had a good time. This isn't the main gondola thread though, so only a few people will see your report.

Thanks, but I'm new to the site and this is the only gondola thread I found. If you would kindly direct me properly I'll copy my post there. Thanks again.
