Hollywood Studios Sorcerer Hat

Please God, let this be true! I was one of the cheering masses at the Imagineers discussion last year at the anniversary celebration for Studios when the Imagineers more of less said that we would again one day have the unobstructed view of the Chinese Theater.

They could have saved the wand, and put that there, as well as the pink birthday cake castle.

Then we would have the "crap that didn't work out" resort.

The quicker the hat is removed, the quicker DHS cements itself as WDW's best park.

But didn't the hat just get repainted less than a year ago?? why invest in the refurbishing of its surface if it is only getting taken down 2-3 year later?

They do that quite often actually. I don't remember specific examples, but I know things have been refurb only to be removed months later.

I'm pretty sure putting it up there would make it visible from Epcot and WS. Something I doubt people would be okay with.

I don't hate the hat. I hate the location. Out in front of the Studios or at DTD is fine by me.

Recently, while on the Keys to the Kingdom tour, our tour guide told us that in the near future Hollywood Studios would be undergoing some big changes. He said "that the park will be moving in a new direction". He also said that the Sorcerer Hat (which I love) will be coming down!

Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? :shrug:

If your tour guide for the KTTK tour was true, then my DH would be excited! He hates Mickey's Sorcerer Hat. IMHO, I like the hat, but I just don't like the location.

The Main Problem with the hat is it doesn't fit the theme. What do you think of when you hear "Movie Studios"? Random Giant Hats? The Earful Tower fitted a lot better. It's a typical water tower you'd find in a studio.

In any case, Studios has been moving "in a new direction" since it opened, especially since around 1998-1999.

I like the hat. I am surprised so many people don't. I guess I am in the minority on this subject. I like that each park has a huge Icon in the center. I thought the hat was fitting for a Hollywood theme. I guess time will tell what happens with it. I like the downtown idea for it.
