Sorry for my doom and gloom moment and I blame the AMPTP for making me doom and gloom because they refused to give the strikers a fair deal.

If the DVD owner had to pay a monthly fee to own the DVD? Yes.

If the studios want to eliminate the residuals they’re going to have to make wholesale, sweeping changes to how writers and actors are paid. Saying, “Whoops, media changed, you don’t get paid now,” isn’t going to cut it.

Streaming, in its current form, is unsustainable. I don’t think there’s much dispute over that. I don’t know what the future looks like and neither do you. I suspect ad interruptions will return in force except at the most exorbitantly priced levels. Most streamers will fold and studios will resume selling product to outside companies. A financially beneficial model will emerge. And the actors and writers must position themselves to benefit, just as when the landscape changed with TV.

There will also need to be adjustments on some fundamental assumptions that this collectivist move would necessitate. More of a flattened line versus today's exponential curve for compensation across the board if they want true equity. One cannot simply just generate more money from any product because the inputs want more. The market is more democratic and customers vote with their dollars.

I do agree that there will be a winnowing of providers, Hopefully, the non-ip centric platforms win.

I truly appreciated Zegler for her excellent role as actress. However, her appearance as Snow White has caused controversy by all sides, particularly right-leaning and centrist netizens who are mad regarding casting controversy and changing the plot from the original 1937 film. There's far more backlash regarding Zegler's role as Snow White than how Bailey's casting role as Ariel.

Also, films that she casting was flop (West Side Story and Shazam 2), so many of them have a doubt about whether her performance as Snow White can deliver critical acclaim from the audiences and viewers alike.
It will be interesting to see how the Hunger Games prequel goes.

Or has that already been delayed due to the strike?

Oh, the irony of the subject manner. When actors and writers participate in what was a fictitious event, but it's their livelihoods on the line and the industry being the sponsor of the games.

I don’t think our Governor of California will do any good, but I hope so.
He did such as great job with the Pandemic.

I don’t want to say this, but I’m giving up hope. The AMPTP is doing a crappy job of making negotiations. The strike is going to last forever and Disney, WB, Paramount, the whole Hollywood will be shut down forever. Man, life sucks!😢
What could be worst is a baseball strike! Nothing like millionaires on strike for more money.

I’m giving up hope! I guess the strike will last forever and……man, I need to stop saying that, because people here will agree with me and makes it so depressing for me.😢😭

Actually Hollywood is on life support via indie studios like A24.
I’ll try to believe that, if the AMPTP isn’t too stubborn to to make a fair and better deal with writers and actors and get rid of this A.I. gizmo whatever it’s called! Sigh! Sometimes life ain’t fair.

You’d think the star of West Side Story and Shazam: Fury of the Gods would have a bit more humility by now.

Oh geez, she was in those two???

Seriously, her agent and her mom need to have an intervention with her ASAP. 🤣

West Side Story ($100 Production, $50 Marketing) = $113 Million Loss
Shazam
($125 Production, $50 Marketing) = $110 Million Loss

"If I'm going to stand around 18 hours to be in flops that rack up hundreds of millions of dollars in losses for their studios, I deserve to be paid for every hour that those flops are streamed online." -Probably a Deep Thought from Rachel Zegler

I have no sympathy for either side. Eventually, when both sides financial situations become sufficiently stressed suddenly an agreement will be reached. In the meantime, the rest of the world has plenty of things to do and other entertainment options for people to partake in.

Yup. This isn't the 1960's when we had 4 or 5 TV channels, or the 1980's when we had a few dozen cable channels.

There is more entertainment streaming at 4K into American homes than we know what to do with.

No one needs to depend on The Tonight Show or Marvel Franchise #24 to be entertained any longer. The late night talk shows have been off the air for four months now, except for Gutfeld which was already the highest rated one before the strike even began. And somehow, we're all still alive. How is that possible if Hollywood is allegedly full of so many Essential Workers?

Answer: Hollywood and their flagship products are now actually Non-Essential.

President Ronald Reagan (He Was an Actor before becoming Governor of California and President) very correctly stated "The nine most feared words in the English language are I'm from The Government and am here to Help." So yeah, let's get the folks in the government involved. Let's see what kind of real mess evolves.

Mayor Bass is on the case. After her huge success in solving the homeless and crime and drug crisis in LA, she is now offering her services as mediator and healing agent. She is "ready to personally engage".
