HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

Also, if I remember correctly, HKDL did not get the new COCO scene in its version of Philarmagic...

Beginning from last night performance of Momentous until further notice, the show was shown without flame effects, following the aftermath of Fantasmic Murphy dragon fire at Disneyland. However, the positive side is the pyro returned to the original full pyro this month, albeit with modifications.

So HKDL will not get the "King Thanos" Avengers ride that DCA is getting? I think that's a wasted opportunity.

Rather than taking the Webslingers ride, I'd actually prefer for HKDL to get the Dr Strange show, housed in the Hong Kong Sanctum (as depicted in the Dr Strange film). Currently the Marvel stage is not really very interesting.

I concur. I think people forget that Spiderman is the most "family friendly" Marvel character (at least from the popular characters) so having a family friendly no height restriction interactive ride is perfect for that IP.

I think the problem at DCA is that this is the only attraction in AC when in reality it should have opened with the Avengers E-ticket which people can then compare to the iconic Spiderman at IOA.

Yes. But that's not really part of 'Avengers Campus' and didn't launch with the land. It was designed at a time when Marvel was going to take a different direction when Joe Rohde had the Marvel portfolio.

It didn't open at the same time as the land but it's 100% part of Avengers Campus

I think it's entirely disingenuous to imply Webslingers is the best they can do, when it was very clearly supposed to be the tertiary attraction of the land. The company deserves ire for splitting and summarily back burning the lead attraction, but Webslingers is unfairly maligned, which is the companies and marketings fault. By all means.

It doesn't make sense in HKDL, though, unless they were razing Ant Man. It was also a questionable addition for DCA's existing lineup. But the combo of Webslingers and TSMM is less redundant to me than Star Tours and Millennium Falcon. Which the latter arguably had more delusions of grandeur and some troubles actually being 'fun'.

I remember that Peter Pan's Flight was part of the original plan for HKDL. The imagineers had said they left structures in place for its installation later on. But it is NOT PhilharMagic. I assume they meant that Festival of Foods is that space.

Soon Arendelle will open, it will come with its own F&B outlets, making Festival of Foods redundant. (It is already one of the least popular F&B outlets in the park.) That should pave the way for the installation of Peter Pan's Flight or something using similar technology but has another theme. Aladdin?

The area of Festival of Foods is not big enough for a dark ride.
Peter Pan would have to go either on Philharmagic or Royal Banquet Hall

Festival of Foods including the outdoor dining area and the trees.

There is no way HKDL will replace PhilHarmagic and Royal Banquet Hall since both are popular with guests. If something has to go in Fantasyland, it has to be Festival of Foods, it is hardly ever open anyway.

Just had my first ever visit to HKDL yesterday, here's my basic thoughts:

  • First off, the castle is absolutely gorgeous. I don't care what anyone says, it's so wonderful for that park and the mountain backdrop makes it look even more majestic.
  • Very very crowded. Friends are telling me this weekend is a holiday in the Mainland, which would also explain some of the behavior I noticed yesterday. Lots of litter on Main Street after Momentous.
  • Speaking of, Momentous is mind-blowingly good. I think only Happily Ever After trumps it in terms of castle shows, the soundtrack is so perfect, the projections crisp and clear, I want to see it another thousand times.
  • Mystic Manor lives up to the hype, I have no words for that either.
  • The new Marvel processional was super neat. I think HK would be prime for creating a fully-realized Marvel land out of Tomorrowland, as long as WEB Slingers doesn't come here. They don't have the baggage of Toy Story anymore so there's definitely more potential for a full Stark Expo land for sure.
  • Overall, a delightful park, and criminally underrated by so many US fans in the shadow of Tokyo and to a lesser extent Shanghai. I can't wait for my second day next week!
