Having Luggage from Magical Express Delivered (Laptop backpack)

Hello, I’m still kinda new to the forums. So I apologize if this is in the incorrect category. We usually drive to Orlando rather than fly, but this time we are flying in pretty early in the morning. It is a shorter trip, so I only plan on bringing a carry on suitcase and my laptop backpack. I am nervous about leaving my brand new gaming laptop at the resort until the room is ready, but I like bringing a laptop with me to game on before bed at night. Is it safe to leave it with the resort/magical express or should I just not bring it? I’m worried about it getting broken or stolen.

The luggage delivery service with Magical Express is only for checked bags. If you’re in the US (and Canada ?) you use the yellow tags.

Since I’m assuming you will not be checking your laptop bag, you’ll bring that with you on the bus. Once at the resort you can leave it with Bell Services until your room is ready.

On checkout day, we’ve left everything there, including laptops, iPads, even tickets and passports in the hotel safe. :)

Yes, do not put the laptop with checked luggage(the only kind magical express would take). First, your room might be ready when you arrive so no worries there, if not and you are planning on going to the parks, I would leave it will bell services. Just make sure you have it in a padded well protected case or backpack.

When you give it to Bell Services, let them know which has the laptop in it. They'll put it in "the cage" that has stricter access, and it'll be placed so nothing squishes it.

Also note that luggage left with Bell Services will not automatically be delivered to your room like yellow-tagged DME luggage will. You must call for it and be in the room to accept it.

Not bringing it seems like the best idea to me, then you don't have to worry about it at all. One of the reasons we go to WDW is to get away from worry. There is plenty to do without bringing your own entertainment. IMO

The resort rooms have safes. Some are small wall safes that barely hold a wallet, others are larger that can hold a tablet. We've never had an issue with valuables disappearing from our room while visiting the parks or dining. But we put our wallets and small electronic devices (my son in law brings his Switch) in the safe when we're out of the room. People have commented about items missing from their room when they returned. Are you comfortable leaving your gaming laptop in your room while visiting the parks? Does the front desk have a safe you can store your laptop in? If not, I wouldn't bring it.

As someone mentioned, Disney's in room Wi-Fi isn't the most robust, which would be a drawback for gaming. I had to put my phone on data during my trip, the Wi-Fi was so spotty. Plus, it's not secured.

Yes, do not check it. Bring it as your carry on and then leave it with Bell Services. We do this often (even if we have a car because sometimes it's too hot) and laptops or other larger electronics are safe with them. Just keep in mind wifi can be spotty at resorts if you want heavy gaming.

Unless they are not multi player games (single player w/no inet required) I would not get your hopes up. Even moba games are garbage on Disney inet. Packet loss is atrocious, enough latency to make you even stop web browsing on occasion. I would not even bother personally.

Your only other option is a cell company with a very very good data plan and you can use your cell as a hot spot.

Magical Express won't take your carry-on bags so it is a moot point. Once you bring them to the resort yourself, I would feel pretty comfortable leaving them with the desk if your room isn't ready.

Wouldn’t one just take their carry on bag right to the DME bus? We always do that. Then we have it right when we get dropped off at resort. We bring all our luggage on the bus.

All of this is great advice. I would suggest not bringing it. I am a gamer too, and I understand the desire to do dailies or keep up to date with tasks... but just leave it behind. Use that unwind time to do something else relaxing and just 'be' on vacation. Get extra sleep or what have you.
