I used to chat on this forum quite often many years ago. I haven't been on forever and my most recent trip was in 2022. 2018 before that. I'm hoping to return with my family next year. Since it's been a while, I'm not sure what has changed and what has not. Is it still the case that if I buy an annual pass right now, the clock doesn't start ticking on it until I use it the first time? Or do I need to buy it the same calendar year that I plan to use it the first time?

Do I still have to wait until the 180 day mark to make dining reservations? I won't be staying onsite. There is a condo in Poinsienna that we like to stay in. So it used to be that if you are staying onsite, you can make 10 days worth of dining reservations at the 180 day mark. Otherwise, you just have to make a reservation for each day as each day comes up to 180 days out.

We always loved eating at Mama Melrose but I understand it closed. Did they open a new table service restaraunt in its place?

Correct about an annual pass, you have a year to activate it. Park reservations are required for APs, although other than at peak times are easy to get.

Dining is now 60 days. The length of stay / 10 days still applies for onsite, day by day for offsite.

Fastpass is now a paid service callled Lightning Lane.

The Mama Melrose replacement will be Harry Hausen’s once the new land opens, which I think is in 2028.

Disney is constantly changing... policies altered, attractions added or removed, new fees, and the way you do your trip may also need adjusting. A trip to WDW in 2022 doesn't seem like that long ago but when you are planning a trip back to Disney so much has been changed. I suggest you get an updated Unofficial Guide to Disney and pour through it so you are well informed before your trip. Visiting this site and other Dis fan sites will also benefit you. Even minor changes if you are not aware of them can make or break your trip enjoyment.
One major item I suggest you should get informed about is the LL process and how to best utilize it to get on the most popular attractions and avoid the lengthy waits in line. The cost can be a burden but if you plan wisely it will be worth it.
